Two more neighborhoods in the "Westbard" area of Bethesda are stepping up to fund citizen efforts against development plans that threaten the quality of life in that area. The Fort Sumner Citizens Association has announced it will donate $1000 to the Save Westbard lawsuit against Montgomery County.
Next door neighbor Sumner has already contributed $5000 to the lawsuit, as have Springfield, Westmoreland Hills and Wood Acres. As the list of communities financing the lawsuit grows longer, activists are waiting to see if Kenwood, Glen Mar Park, Glen Echo Heights and the Town of Somerset will consider the matter at future meetings.
Meanwhile, the Brookdale community off River Road - recently in the news after several Montgomery County elected officials and Gov. Larry Hogan launched a Trump-style personal attack on the "Purple Line judge" who lives in that neighborhood - is contributing an unspecified amount to the Westbard cemetery fund. That separate fund is enabling Macedonia Baptist Church to also be represented by attorney Michele Rosenfeld. A respected land use attorney who is one of the few who will represent neighborhoods rather than developers, Rosenfeld is also prosecuting the Save Westbard lawsuit against the County.
This was good reporting. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThe title makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteChrist, Dyer can't even get a headline to make sense. Somehow (probably by name calling because it makes Dyer feel like a big man) Dyer will try and say it makes sense. Heaven forbid, Dyer ever admits to making a mistake.
ReplyDeleteThe title makes sense: Fort Sumner gave $$ to the lawsuit; Brookdale gave $$ to the cemetery fund. Why are you confused @6:41?
ReplyDeleteSemi colon much?
Delete@4:39 ... you don't understand the title due to the lack of a semi-colon? Nit-picky much?
ReplyDeleteWhy is Westbard in quotes?
ReplyDeleteBecause Robert is a blogger and not a journalist. Don't be so nit picky, his blog and reviews about new restaurants do a service to Bethesda. He obviously doesn't have the staff or journalists on hand as some of the bigger Bethesda publications have on staff to catch every mistake. Is your blog so perfect? Give Robert a break and don't confuse him with a newspaper.
