The Bainbridge Bethesda luxury apartment tower has filled another of its ground floor retail spaces. Coming soon will be
Pet Parents, next to Experimac, at 4907 Fairmont Avenue. This won't solve the lack-of-street-activation problem around the Bainbridge after business hours, but should be appreciated by pet owners in the nearby apartments.
As far as I can tell, Experimac has been closed for months. Please don't blame the government for this somehow Dyer.
ReplyDeleteWell, the County has lost over 2000 retail jobs since 2000, according to the Maryland Association of Retailers. So the County Council should be held accountable for our moribund private sector economy.

DeleteExurbs such as Culpeper County, with lots of greenfield development, would be expected to have a net gain in retail locations. It's not really a surprise and it's not an indicator that mostly-developed counties such as Montgomery are failing.
Delete11:56: Whoa, whoa - we're talking about all jobs, not just retail jobs. The large jurisdictions, and the small ones, around us all had a net gain in jobs. Montgomery County had a net LOSS. That most certainly is an indicator that Montgomery is failing.
