Follain posts Coming Soon signage at Bethesda Row (Photos)
Just one day after I broke the news about Follain opening at Bethesda Row, the non-toxic skincare store has posted Coming Soon window screens. The store will be located in the former Calypso St. Barth space at 4810 Bethesda Avenue.
"Andrew Metcalf of Bethesda Magazine asked Riemer regarding the County's Economic Development Corporation, 'Can you think of any major accomplishments or achievements they have? What exactly has MCEDC done in the last two years?'"
Well, this kills Dyer's treasured talking points about "attaboys" and "fawning coverage in the legacy local print media".
11:46 — You realize the author of this very blog claims that August 2016 was the “coldest in his lifetime” (it was actually one of the warmest), and that last January’s average temperature was “far below” normal (it wasn’t)? Mr. Dyer’s grasp on basic facts is tenuous at best.
Please stop using terms like “helpless” to describe your competition. Stop acting like a 12 year old. Please stop using the term “moribund” to describe your perception of our economy. Show us that you can articulate your thoughts and political stance without repeating the same deragatory comment over and over. Pick up a thesaurus and find a new way to make your argument. Of course you can point out perceived flaws, but do it in a thoughtful way. If you want anyone to take you seriously, you need to grow up, and become more articulate, and stop slinging this same stuff at us.
1:35 PM What are Hans' accomplishments? He was speechless when Bethesda Magazine asked about specific accomplishments for economic matters. What is this man doing all day that he couldn't answer a basic question?
Hans should be fired for that performance. The other at-large candidates should take the gloves off and go negative on this council.
Kudos to Metcalf for pressing during the interview and posting a compelling write-up. I didn't think Bethesda Beat had it in it to go after a council member like that.
If Hans thought that was a tough question, I'm looking forward to the debates. Dyer may have Hans pee his pants again (see MyMCMedia debate from last cycle).
Robert, did you actually ask Riemer any questions yourself, or did you let the old legacy print media do all the hard work of journalism while you cowered in the corner?
3:27: The story is about Hans Riemer's disastrous performance during a press conference. You don't need to ask about events that we can all see from the video actually happened.
2:22: The Washington Post, and Riemer's own former chief of staff, have both called the County's economy moribund and stagnant. Are they 12 year olds, too?
5:19: You keep posting this false spam comment, but anyone who watches the video of Riemer is laughing at your claims he isn't using cue cards. Just count how many times he consults, and reads directly off of, them.
If everyone is laughing at my claims, then why do you keep deleting this comment? Why not let it stand and make me look like a fool? Could it be because I'm actually telling the truth?
@Dyer 3:40: I'm glad you brought up the issue of what "we can all see from the video actually happened." 'Cause it ain't what you describe.
The Reimer post is such a sad attempt at a hit piece. As usual, #DistortingDyer has twisted the facts and presented a very slanted view of reality. Let’s consider a few examples, starting with Dyer’s references to “cue cards” and “flash cards.” Reimer had neither. He’s got notes on statistics. In other words — President Reimer came prepared. We’re meant to fault him for this? It’s true that there were moments when he seemed to gaze towards his notes while he was thinking about his responses, but if you watch closely it’s clear this is more out of habit. There’s nothing “frantic” about any of it.
Is Reimer the most charismatic speaker I’ve ever seen? No, but he’s far from the worst. He is composed, measured, and careful. On the other hand, is it ironic that Robert Dyer should be criticizing anyone’s public speaking skills? I’ll leave that up to you, readers.
Moving on:
Riemer responded to a reporter who challenged him to cite a specific error in the Sage Policy Group report
He was not asked about errors — he was asked what is “not true.” And he answered the question confidently, describing selective use of data.
Andrew Metcalf of Bethesda Magazine asked Riemer regarding the County's Economic Development Corporation, "Can you think of any major accomplishments or achievements they have? What exactly has MCEDC done in the last two years?"
Riemer consulted his cue cards again to no avail.
#DyerTheLiar strikes again. Reimer named specific ways in which the MCEDC has been helpful, including with the Amazon pitch.
Asked when Montgomery County opened dialogue with Discovery Communications after it was known they were considering relocating from Silver Spring, Riemer replied, "I don't have that information." In other words, there was no dialogue.
Try not to hurt yourself with that stretch, Robert.
12:29: Everything you said is false. The guy asked him "what's not true" in the report. Perhaps English isn't your first language, but he was indeed challenging Riemer to state errors in the report.
Riemer was unable to state any accomplishment of the MCEDC. Helping with a pitch is not an accomplishment. He then desperately sought staff to answer the question.
It's no stretch to state there was no dialogue between the Council and Discovery - if Riemer had been engaged in such, he would not have answered, "I don't have that information."
You claim Riemer "came prepared." LOL. Multiple articles have been written about the fact that Riemer was woefully UNprepared at this press conference. He has no grasp of any topic, and desperately turned to cue cards and an apparently out-to-lunch staff for answers that were never found.
Even a gorilla can count how many times Riemer frantically scanned the cue cards on the table in front of him over 30 minutes.
Humiliating, much like your desperate spam defense of Riemer, most likely typed in his office.
Looks like Bethesda Row is getting Union Market's rejects.
ReplyDeleteUpdate to @ 6:53 AM - TWO HOURS later here than on the other blogs.
ReplyDelete"Andrew Metcalf of Bethesda Magazine asked Riemer regarding the County's Economic Development Corporation, 'Can you think of any major accomplishments or achievements they have? What exactly has MCEDC done in the last two years?'"
ReplyDeleteWell, this kills Dyer's treasured talking points about "attaboys" and "fawning coverage in the legacy local print media".
It's not really journalism if you only report on 2 candidates out of 34.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that people who work in Northern Virginia are so eager to live in Montgomery County?:
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking that Riemer can't name one accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteHard to watch Riemer as he tries to cast doubt on data.
ReplyDeleteWe'll never move forward as a county if we have Councilmen who want to cast aside data because of politics.
10:29 AM Reimer doesn't have a grasp on basic facts, let alone being able to own anyone's soul.

DeleteIf Hans lost the liberal bastion of Bethesda Magazine, what of his re-election campaign?

Riemer needs more speaking lessons.

ReplyDeleteRiemer is no great speaker.
DeleteRoger has some energy at least.

ReplyDeleteAnd gosh darn it people like me... Reimer's new campaign slogan?

ReplyDeleteRiemer shakes and pees on video. See MyMCMedia debate.
DeleteYou can delete my comment over and over again (and you do), but it doesn't delete your blatant envy. It's consumed you. Pity party, table for one.

What's really telling about Dyer is he doesn't delete the 9:25PM comment.
