The resort atmosphere at The Promenade will now come with fresher air. Shareholders at the flagship of developer Nathan Landow's portfolio of luxury buildings in Bethesda voted by a 9-1 margin Monday night to make the gated high-rise officially smoke-free.
More than 80% of shareholders cast votes at the meeting. One person familiar with the history of the issue at The Promenade said that less than ten years ago, the matter did not even have sufficient support to be put up for a vote. The question of going smoke-free is one that is more and more frequently discussed at building board meetings in downtown Bethesda. Post-recession luxury towers that have opened advertising their smoke-free status seem to have added momentum to the discussion.

ReplyDeleteWut???
Maybe the resorts you go to. I never knew it was there until recently and it looks like a typical 40 year old apartment complex.
ReplyDeleteI loved him in "Mission: Impossible".
ReplyDelete7:38 AM Pretty unique complex. Co-ops are common in NYC, but rare in MoCo.
ReplyDeleteThe amenities are above what the average complex offers today. It's amazing the tiny wading pools new buildings have.
Co-ops are horrible. Hard to get a mortgage because it's hard to sell them - you need prior approval from your Board of Directors. And the Board has even more dictatorial powers over residents than in condos.
ReplyDelete8:28 am Harder to buy & sell but prices are typically lower than the equivalent condo.
ReplyDeletePromenade has the benefit of being in a Bethesda zip code (20814) and luxury amenities.
9:56 AM = Reimer supporter calling Westbard residents "retards"
ReplyDeleteThis is 2018 politics in MoCo.
Landow is a scumbag and tried to cover up Bill Clinton’s scandal. No surprise he did well developing in Montgomery County.
ReplyDeleteLandow hasn't been involved in 40 years. And, yes, the Promenade is resort-y, with indoor and outdoor pools, tennis center, spa, restaurants, etc. No problem getting board approval for qualified buyers. Just about the only place you can find a 1,000SF apartment in Bethesda under $500,000. Great place if you're an owner, but the owners hate renters and families.
ReplyDeleteThere is not a community in Bethesda or Montgomery County, Md. that even comes close to all The Promenade Towers has to offer. Fantastic location, resort styled amenities, large rooms and abundant closets, garage parking included with all apartments and a very diversified community. All ages and nationalities make the Promenade the best!
