Zenscape spa, Zumiez clothing coming soon to Westfield Montgomery Mall

Two very different new tenants have signed on at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Opening soon will be Zenscape spa, which already has a location at the Westfield mall in Annapolis. Zenscape will be located on Level 1 next to Claire's.

Also arriving soon will be Zumiez, which offers apparel aimed at heavy shredders of all ages. Whether you are a skater, a snowboarder, a surfer, or all of the above, Zumiez promises "cutting edge" apparel and accessories for you. Zumiez will be on Level 2 by Kicks USA. "Skate or Die! Skate or Die! Die! Die Die Die Die Die!"

Shredders of all ages huh. Well, I can tell you that all ages is not their target audience. I'm 50 and pretty dialed in but I have no idea what a shredder is. More mall closings before they even open.

Shredding is aggressive skateboarding, sometimes like down rails or other objects where the skateboard wheels don't touch. And Zumiez has been around for a long time--they'll do fine. (I'm 48, btw).

You're 48? Then you're much more dialed in than me. This place has been around for a long time? Uh-huh, well, I never heard of it ever. You know what I have heard of and remember well? Sunshine House and Bethesda Surf Shop. Now that was some skateboarding and we never broke benches or anything else.

Aggressive shedding that destroys public property and endangers nearby pedestrians. These hoodlums on wheels should be arrested. Skateboarding should be only tolerated at dedicated skateparks, and not on public or private sidewalks.

No actually I’m just watching the destruction of the built environment by mindless kids who are under-disciplined by their careless parents. Sure, let’s require developers to install elaborate granite clad planters, beautiful stainless steel hand rails and comfortable wood benches so these little shits can shred them with their skateboards. This is why we can’t have nice things.

12:29 PM Will Dyer see you at the next public candidate's event? He's had a full schedule of events around the county already this year.

I suspect you'll continue to be a keyboard cowboy, hiding behind "anonymous" here.

1:09 PM You have deep resentments about Dyer but you'll never detail what they are here or in person with Dyer. If you can air your resentments, you can start healing.

Hope to see you on the campaign trail at some point if you summon enough courage to leave your lair and want to exchange ideas with other humans.

Why is the phrase "cutting edge" in quotes? It's a commonly used, though by now somewhat dated, phrase.
