Bethesda Metro Center fountains activated (Video+Photos)
The fountains on the plaza at the Bethesda Metro Center were activated for the summer season yesterday. I presume the Maryland and Montgomery County flags were at half-staff due to the death of Maryland House Speaker Michael Busch.
Sorry, but I still hate the artwork around the fountain. Looks cheesy and now the white painted areas are getting very dirty.
I know that Brookfield was trying to add some vitality to the area, but I’m simply not a fan of this piece. I hope they aspire to a higher level if they get their new project approved.
Any word on when we will seem more detailed preliminary and site plans? I read there was a lawsuit by Clark regarding the approved sketch plan. Has this been resolved?
Robert, if you're ever unsure why flags are at half-staff the Maryland.gov site has a dedicated page regarding the flag: https://sos.maryland.gov/Pages/Services/PastFlagStatus.aspx.
If the photos were from yesterday, the flag was still lowered in honor of Staff Sergeant Dinora Flores of the MD National Guard. She died April 2nd. The flags were previously lowered (earlier this week) in honor of Speaker Busch.

10:17 AM The blog you mentioned = interns reposting county press releases.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks! But enjoyed your freshly scraped "news".
Maryland Flag half for Busch. MoCo Flag half, as they didn't get the expected tax revenue.

Thanks, Suze. I didn't know that.
