Sprint store closes at Montgomery Mall, more signs of Eyebobs

Another retail closure in
Montgomery County
Not even the traitorous Verizon Guy could save Sprint from the moribund Montgomery County economy. The Sprint store at Westfield Montgomery Mall has permanently closed. Montgomery County has suffered a net loss of retail jobs since 2000, according to the Maryland Retailers Association.

In other mall news, future tenant Eyebobs has installed some Coming Soon signage at their space. Eyebobs aims to be the Warby Parker of the suburban mall.

Sprint merged with T-Mobile last year and they are closing Sprint stores nationwide.

Too bad Mr. Journalist can't be bothered to do even the most basic research on what he writes.

Sprint has not merged with T-Mobile. Stop hitting that pipe.

5:57 AM The FCC and Department of Justice still need to approve the merger, so it hasn't happened yet. There are serious questions whether it will be approved.

Seems like every morning I get up and Robert Dyer has more openings and closings to report!

Tenant turnover in the mall is hardly much of indicator of the local economy.

Someone posted a few days ago that the new owner of Montgomery Mall makes it a habit to kick out the bottom 10% worst-performing stores every year.

7:05 AM Right- One of the negatives or fears of the merger is *if* it is approved, it would mean stores closing. Hasn't happened yet.
