A life-size pink elephant was spotted outside of Medium Rare at 4904 Fairmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda last night. It was there for a Delirium tap takeover at the restaurant. Fortunately, it was inflatable - real elephants are forbidden in Montgomery County thanks to the County Council's ban on zoo animals...which the Council debated while Knoxville, Tennessee was busy negotiating with Discovery Communications, ultimately stealing the Discovery headquarters from Silver Spring.
Bodyslamers gonna bodyslam
ReplyDeleteSeriously Robert you think circus elephants should be allowed in the County? Where exactly? In your apartment building? In a yard near by?
ReplyDeleteGood gracious can you go one day with out complaining? Nothing is ever good enough for you.
How did you get so bitter and nasty?
Well, the zoo animal ban was a big story, so it's not a stretch to mention it again here considering there was an elephant on the sidewalk :)
ReplyDeleteRobert can find the dark side of a marshmallow.
ReplyDeleteOk, do you know what they actually do to Indian elephants to train them? It is brutal, and the very definition of animal cruelty: they use an item called an ankus, or bullhook, to repeatedly stab elephants in tender areas like behind the ears to break their spirits and get them to obey through pain. I'm glad Montgomery County has a ban on circus animals, and I hope more and more jurisdictions follow suit until all the old style animal circuses are out of business.
ReplyDeleteSo instead of being snarky, Robert, maybe you should do your research. https://www.elephantvoices.org/elephants-in-captivity-7/about-the-bull-hook.html
2:34 PM You should be more concerned with your own affairs and not obsess over a local news publisher.
ReplyDeleteHow much do YouTubers make?
ReplyDelete"The actual rates an advertiser pays varies, usually between $0.10 to $0.30 per view, but averages out at $0.18 per view. On Average the YouTube channel can receive $18 per 1,000 ad views. This equates to $3 - $5 per 1000 video views."
Robert Dyer's YouTube channel has had 2,612,848 views since it started in March 2009.
That means it has earned between $7,839 and $13,065 in its 10.5 year history.
The average per year is between $747 and $1,244 per year.
Poverty-Level Income in the USA in 2019 for a single individual is $12,490 per year, slightly more than 10 times Dyer's estimated income from his YouTube channel.
4:08: You obviously know nothing about the YouTube payment algorithms, which factor much more than views. For example, a video with only 10,000 views can make more money than one with 80,000. Engagement, length of video (meaning more possible ads), etc. and other criteria determine the revenue generated.
ReplyDeleteStick to what you know - although that's clearly very little, given you have time to troll 24/7.
12:12: So some bad actors mean that Siegfried and Roy should be locked up, and circus families' livelihoods and Western traditions ended?
"Siegfried and Roy should be locked up, and circus families' livelihoods and Western traditions ended"
ReplyDelete...and I feel fine.

And in the USA, the states of Hawaii and New Jersey, and over 90 jurisdictions in 32 states.

ReplyDeleteSo do you break even on the costs of the junk food you buy to review, or not?
10:09: You may have noticed there are no major countries on those lists. "BTW" it's "Siegfried," not "Sigfried."
ReplyDeleteWhat is your definition of a ‘major’ country?
DeleteMexico is #10 in terms of population. I think that counts as "major".
DeleteAlso, about half the countries of Europe, South and Central America are on that list. And Israel, too.
If Dyer had been born 100 years earlier, he would have been the star of a circus freak show. And probably made more money from that than his junk food review videos.
ReplyDeleteI meant to write: "...blame GOOGLE for all..." of the negative spam comments that users cannot delete.
ReplyDelete2:55: Thank you! The local political cartel trolls do their bravest work behind computer screens in dark rooms. There's only 2 or 3 of them, just posing as more. But as they say, "If you don't have enemies, you're not getting anything done."
