Bethesda construction update: 4747 Bethesda Avenue (Photos)

The remaining construction work at JBG Smith's 4747 Bethesda Avenue development is almost entirely inside. Office floors are being built out, as well as the lobby. Kastle is a familiar security access company to anyone who frequents office buildings in the D.C. region (I've used a Kastle Kard myself at one of my past jobs), but there is a backlit screen as part of the system here, as you will see in one of the photos below. I'm not sure what functions it has, but it looks cool and is a good ad for the company. You can also see fancy furniture in place already, but with protective covering on it, as workers and equipment are still passing by it.

Beautiful new home for the staff of the former Charles E. Smith who are moving from Arlington.

  4. 6:52: Wrong! Charles E. Smith was merged with JBG to become JBG Smith. There is no "Charles E. Smith" moving anywhere. The merger was already completed at JBG's current Montgomery County location.

Your fantastic claims of 10,000 JBG Smith employees moving in here were debunked months ago. The nearest fire marshall would be alerted if that many people were in this building, much less in one office.

Vornado is still in New York, and got 40% of JBG Smith in the deal.

This is incorrect. Former CES staff is moving from NoVa to consolidate with MoCo staff at this new HQ. That's the entire point of JBG moving into this larger space - to eliminate the NoVa office space and consolidate all staff in MoCo.

Vornado SHAREHOLDERS. In 2017. Individual Vornado shareholders were given shares in the new JBG Smith.

Vornado has no role in JBG Smith or the former CES division.

Using a Kastle Kards does not make you, special, unique, or an expert on anything. They aren’t new, as I used one in the early 90s. Key cards, badges and key fobs are common everywhere yet you show off by day you used one in the past.

You want a ‘Good Job’ sticker or a participation trophy?

    Pathetic

  7. 9:05:9:10: Misinformation madness. The refs have called the game because you moved the goalposts so much they collapsed.

CES already merged with JBG. When a merger takes place, two mirror image companies are not set up. There are not two CEOs, CFOs, etc. This merger took place a couple of years ago. There's no Charles E. Smith to move - it no longer exists. Much less "10,000 JBG Smith employees" moving into 4747. The building would be shut by order of the fire marshall at that point.

You're the one who kept saying Vornado was moving! I was the stable genius who reminded you Vornado is still in New York, and isn't moving anywhere, much less 4747. What a dumbass.

2:07: I'm a lifelong resident, and it's still killing you, carpetbagger. As an elite Kastle Kard expert, I need no trophy from you. In fact, I literally hold the title "The Honorable," as a former elected official.

Woot woot an ‘Elite Kastle Kard’ user. This makes you an expert on what exactly? How to swipe a little piece of plastic?

Are you so lacking in self awareness you can’t see how pathetic that sounds?

Perhaps you need to slam yourself through a table

And Dyer staggers in at Zero Drunk 30, hoping that no one else is awake to challenge his delusions.

    1) You still have no idea how a spinoff works.

    2) No one said "Vornado is moving".

    3) The former CES division of Vornado became part of JBG. The entire staff didn't just up and disappear in the merger.

    4) I'm a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. And I wasn't mysteriously born in a hospital in Virginia as you were. Gabe Albornoz, Andrew Friedson, Will Jawando, Sidney Katz, Craig Rice, Marc Elrich - all are lifelong residents. And Will Jawando, unlike you, was actually born in MoCo.

    5) Being a member of the MoCo GOP Central Committee does not make you an "elected official". You've never won a competitive election.

  9. 1) You have no idea how a merger works, such as the one between CES and JBG.

    2) YOU said Vornado was moving to Bethesda. You were wrong.

    3) CES merged with JBG. In 2017. They don't have parallel companies to move. You said there were 10,000 people. LOL

    4) You are wrong - half the people you mentioned have not lived continuously in MoCo for their lifetime, and at least one moved here from out of state and is not a lifelong resident at all.

You are a carpetbagger posing as a lifelong resident.

    5) I won a 5-person race for that seat, and finished first against all other well-known activists.

    B O O M

You can literally call me, The Honorable, as Bob Ehrlich himself did in writing.

"Half the people you mentioned have not lived continuously in MoCo for their lifetime, and at least one moved here from out of state and is not a lifelong resident at all."

    Which ones?

"I won a 5-person race for that seat, and finished first against all other well-known activists."

Each district has five seats. The election was uncontested. Who were the "well-known activists" against whom you "finished first"

  11. 10:28: It looks like you aren't very knowledgeable about prominent members of the Democratic or Republican parties in Montgomery County if you don't know the answers to these questions.

As a carpetbagger, you don't realize that the size of the Central Committee changed in 2010. There were only 2 seats per district when I ran in 2006, and at least 5 candidates in the race. Everyone I ran against in that race had been elected to the committee in the past except one, and was a well-known name among GOP activists in the County. I finished solidly first.

I realize this is frustrating for you, but I am officially The Honorable Robert Dyer for life.

4:24/4:25: Pretending to talk to yourself in two personalities. Would be impressive if not indicative of serious mental illness. Fortunately, Bethesdans can rest easily knowing I am both "The Honorable," and am Master and Commander of the Kastle Kard.

Is it creepy that anonymous claims to have watched Will Jawando's birth "in MoCo"?

    smh

Dyer: 6:52 said "FORMER" Charles E. Smith/Vornado employees, which is 100% correct. All of the Crystal City staff used to work for Charles E. Smith/Vornado. Why exactly is that so difficult to comprehend? And where did this "10,000 people" nonsense come from? This website would be so much better if it weren't for all the stupidity you read in the comments and half the articles.

Thank you for the article Honorable Robert Dyer!

  16. 7:26: YOU are the one who claimed 10,000 employees would move into the new JBG Smith office at 4747 several months ago, a claim that was quickly debunked, not to mention completely absurd.

There are no more "Charles E. Smith employees" - the companies merged a full two years ago.

The only stupidity is in the troll comments with these sort of wacky claims and fantasies about moribund Montgomery County.

Robert, the former CES employees are moving from NoVa to this new HQ. That's the point. I don't know how this can be dumbed down further for you.

No reader claimed that "10,000 employees would move"

Just as no reader claimed to have watched Will Jawando's birth.

Robert Dyer's Army of Straw Men.

Also, how are readers supposed to refer to the employees of JBG Smith who used to be in the Charles E. Smith division of Vornado, without ever mentioning the name "Charles E. Smith"?

    ReplyDelete
  19. 8:40: No reader did, but you, the troll, did.

Everyone who was reading at that time remembers. Not one of your finer moments of trolling.

They are now JBG Smith employees, and have been since 2017.

8:33: They already moved. The two companies merged a full two years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous9:12 AM

No, the NoVa staff hasn't yet moved (where would they have moved to??). JBG still holds an office presence on Crystal Dr. to accommodate those employees until the larger Bethesda Ave. HQ construction is complete.

Not sure what you're trying to argue, Dyer. Either the former CES staff moved from Arlington to Montgomery County at the time of the merger in 2017, or they are going to move when 4747 Bethesda Avenue is complete.

I'm 7:26, according to you're wrong timestamps. My first and only comment on this article is at 7:26 and Ive never said any such nonsense about 10000 employees. You're the only one who makes things up. You would have to be a total idiot to believe that everyone commenting on here is the same person.
