Jeff's Best closes in Bethesda

Jeff's Best, a small self-serve ice cream and coffee shop at 8004 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda, has closed. The business, which used vending machines to dispense both products, was open for exactly one year. Both machines have been removed, and much of the interior has been dismantled. Work men have been going in and out of the store all weekend, and some would-be customers arrived to find it had closed. They did seem to do a decent amount of business, but apparently not enough to remain open.

    This seemed like a ridiculous concept to me. Self served ice cream and coffee dispensed from publicly accessible machines. Questionable cleanliness of milk based equipment in an un-air conditioned storefront niche. Sounds like a nice place to get food poisoning.

    Just think, if the Regal had been replaced, this place would have had TWENTY THOUSAND CUSTOMERS EVERY WEEKEND!

    Your previous article stated that they opened on or before August 21, 2018. So your report on their closure is at least 12 days late. Or else you don't know what the word "exactly" means.

    I called this when they opened. You have a Baskin Robbins around the corner that was arguably cheaper, and that's an accomplishment. All the toppings to choose added 50¢ a crack and were always stale as hell. Fantastic when the machine didn't dispense a spoon too.

    This place had good soft serve. Sad to see them closed.

    I'm not about to go to Crapskin Slobbins, but I'm glad there are at least a few more places here you can get ice cream from.

    Ledos sells good soft ice cream from a legit soft serve machine.
