Bethesda construction update: The Edge (Photos)
Progress continues at the site of The Edge, on the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Edgemoor Lane in downtown Bethesda. Delivery is anticipated for mid-to-late 2021.
It’s nice to see this project nearing completion. I’m still frustrated that they were not required to include even a modest amount of retail on the ground level. Like many folks, we often walk along Woodmont between Bethesda Row and the Woodmont Triangle. This picturesque curving stretch would have been much more pleasant with even a small coffee shop or a few art galleries to envigorate the streetscape. The solid blank wall of the Metropolitan is even worse. Of course every ground level space in downtown can’t included retail shops, but a it’s a real missed opportunity at this highly traveled pedestrian connection.
