Their location is great and the building is a good size. The issue is the owners have zero restaurant experience. In an interview on another site, they stated they wanted to bring the flavors of their region in Mexico (Oaxaca) to Bethesda. I guess they didn't notice Casa Oaxaca is two blocks away.
ReplyDelete8:04am Yes, and Casa Oaxaca is great already.
DeleteReminds me of the restaurant that preceded Anthony's with a diner concept saying "Bethesda lacks a great diner" when Tastee was literally across the street.
Given the crowds at Casa, perhaps there is room for others to thrive.
I hope the food's good. Otherwise, it's just a pretty sign.
ReplyDeleteI think that was Community Diner. The funny thing is that was built by the BGR/Medium Rare people, so they had extensive restaurant experience and knew the market well.
