Montgomery County police responded to a report of an armed carjacking in downtown Bethesda late on Christmas Eve. The carjacking was reported in the 7200 block of Woodmont Avenue at 10:33 PM Saturday. Reporter Alan Henney tweeted that two male suspects, wielding at least one firearm, carjacked a gray Toyota RAV4 with Maryland tags. The incident took place at the intersection of Woodmont Avenue and Elm Street at Bethesda Row.

Why pay the high prices in Bethesda when you can get carjacked for less in Downtown Silver Spring?
Guess that recently enacted Carry Restriction Law (Bill 21-22) by the One-Party Democrat County Council didn't stop it: No firearms carried, even with a permit, within 100 yards of county-owned property... which would ostensibly include 100 yards from the County Garage (Elm Street and Capital Crescent) property boundary lines.
There need to be substantially more police on the MoCo Police Force to keep the community safe. This is what happens when you don't have enough out on patrol and stationed in locations which have been targeted by criminals for these kinds of crimes.

Bethesda is still much better than Silver Spring, especially when you look at the 2 Downtowns. Silver Spring still has some nice Residential Areas but the Downtown is where most of the crime is…………They did this carjacking on Christmas Eve because they knew no one would be around to stop them……….
@11:30AM They are and there was one on patrol right near there 2 weeks ago which didn't even stop the armed carjacker from trying. Cop "intervened" but the perp still somehow got away.10 percent do 90 percent of the work especially on the police force no matter where stationed nor amount of officers per precinct. A Moco PoPo eating a doughnut on Christmas at the base of the FoxTV bldg would not have or could not have stopped this from happening.
With the command of statistics he demonstrates, "Airport guy" would be well advised to steer clear of any wagering opportunities that come his way. His is the house decorated for Christmas with the razor wire, search lights, and tank traps.
To all the folks who believe our current leadership is not doing enough to combat crime, please list specific changes and policies that you believe would improve the current conditions. It seems that crimes like this have become much more common across the country, so I would be interested to read about what you all thing can be done to help reduce crime.
More police presence in dense population areas seems to be a good start, and more strict sentencing for convicted criminals.
@6:07 This is so easy. Lockup repeat offenders and punish all criminals commensurate with the crime committed.
The problem is liberal cash/no-bail policies and no mandatory sentences. What happens when you don't prosecute theft under $500/$1,000? You get more property crime. This isn't hard but the left has empowered a brazen criminal class only to get worse now that democrats control Annapolis.
