Rowan ear piercing studio opening in Bethesda, with piercing by licensed nurses only

Mom said you can't get your ears pierced at the mall, but don't give up hope yet. Rowan, an ear-piercing studio where all procedures are performed by licensed nurses, is opening soon at the Shoppes of Bethesda on Elm Street. Founded by Louisa Serene Schneider, a veteran of the financial services industry who was seeking a "fun, celebratory and safe ear piercing experience" for her own daughter, Rowan doesn't use piercing guns, cheap metals or materials that would trigger allergies.

"Rowan is the only ear piercing company that I, as a plastic surgeon (specializing in ear reconstruction), and someone who works with craniofacial conditions would endorse and recommend, as they use the safest practices, highest quality materials and have licensed nurses perform all of their piercings," Dr. Charles Thorne, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital in New York City says in endorsing the chain.

All piercings are performed by licensed nurses who have been trained to work with patients of all ages. They also can recommend safe aftercare options to assist in the healing process. If you are a nursing professional, the Bethesda studio is now hiring staff. When it opens, look for Rowan between MyEyeDr and OVME on Elm Street across from Bethesda Row.
