7-Eleven reportedly closing at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda
A source tells me that the 7-Eleven at Westfield Montgomery Mall is closing. They report that the lottery machine had already been removed from the store Monday. An employee told them the convenience store would close tomorrow, Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Employees will reportedly be offered jobs at other local 7-Eleven stores. 7-Eleven opened at the mall in July 2020, after a 19-month construction process.
I can confirm everything you reported. I tried to buy lottery tickets there on Monday, and was told the bad news.
ReplyDeleteNot conducive to hanging around at and panhandling.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why. The place has been absolutely packed when I was there. Learning
ReplyDeleteYeah, I never saw how that was going to work. That mall in general is horrible. IT was great for decades but times change I guess. Definitely a far cry from Tyson's that's for sure. At Mont. Mall, it seems that so many places open then pretty quickly go out of business.
ReplyDeleteThe movie theater didn’t want their patrons smuggling in cheap candy.
ReplyDeletemaybe a Kwik stop or washingtonian will open there next!
ReplyDeleteMy hunch is that 7-11 is too down market for Westfield's plans at the mall. My understanding is that Westfield seriously considered selling the mall but changed its mind but they want to have upscale tenants instead of places such as the recently closed Popeye's and the soon to be closed 7-11.
ReplyDeleteIf 'up scale' is their objective they better provide lots of security... how are they going to attract "pop ups," that typically are anything but 'up scale?'
Delete@8:49 - Please tell us what a "washingtonian" is.
ReplyDelete@ 8:00 AM - “W” gas station.
ReplyDeleteThere's a "Washingtonian" fast food market as a part of a discount gas station on River Road. Nothing special about it, I see.
