Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to a fire at the commercial building located at 4707 Chase Avenue in downtown Bethesda just after 2:30 PM this afternoon. At least a dozen units responded to the call. The fire started in light ballast in a lighting fixture in the building, which was home to the former location of Hope Floats (now at 7625 Wisconsin Avenue) and the shuttered Besta Pizza. In fact, the glass entry door to the Besta Pizza space had to be smashed to pieces to gain access. It was quickly extinguished by firefighters, and no injuries were reported, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said. The building was largely unoccupied at the time of the fire, Piringer added.

ReplyDeleteThis is what they do best. Couldn't they wait for the owner or manager for a key? It was a ballast for a florescent light, for pete's sake! A dozen units responding? smh.
