Friendship Heights Alliance announces 2024 event calendar


The Friendship Heights Alliance, a community-building non-profit focused on the Wisconsin Avenue corridor between Oliver Street in Montgomery County to Fessenden Street NW in Washington, D.C., has announced its event calendar for 2024. New for this year will be Third Thursdays, event programming that is a direct response to requests from local residents for more cultural and creative events. Topics between now and November will be:

  • April 18: Documenting & Experiencing Music in DC

  • May 16: Broad Branch/Belmont Exhibit Discussion 

  • June 20: Native Plant & Seedling Workshop

  • July - August (no events)

  • September 19: Social Isolation & Loneliness

  • October 17: Real Life AI

  • November 21: An Immigrant Food Story: With Cooking Demo



Makers Markets
will return for 2024. The block-long sidewalk festival along Wisconsin Avenue between Jenifer and Harrison Streets includes community hang-out zones, oversized games, music, dance, and more. Markets will be held on the following dates this year:

  • Spring Maker's Market & Festival: Saturday, May 18, 3-7 pm

  • Summer Maker's Market & Festival: Saturday, August 24, 3-7 pm

  • Holiday Edition: Maker's Market & Festival: Saturday, November 2, 12-4 pm



Business Monday Mixers
are targeted toward property owners, business owners, and business organizations in the neighborhood. The next one will be held on Monday, April 8, at Turncoat, the speakeasy bar at The Heights Food Hall, from 5:00 -7:00 PM. Future Monday Mixers will be held at Clyde’s of Chevy Chase, Alley Cat, and Maggiano’s.


Additional Friendship Heights events will include Bike to Work Day (registration open now for May 17); Park(ing) Day (September 20); as well as special pop-ups and mural installations that will be announced soon. Individual business and commercial property owners will also fill out the calendar with additional events they organize and host throughout the year.

    Great to see that people are being proactive. Hopefully it will become a great community gathering spot again.

    I don't put much credence in MC facilitating any 'push - pull' sort of arrangements between commercial areas. Heck, we cannot even walk or ride a bike from real North Bethesda (Wisconsin Ave and Cedar Lane).to Grosvenor: even within our own county we drop the ball.

      I think we have more than enough bike lanes. So many great options around the area.
