Strong-arm robbery at White Flint bus stop
Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at a bus stop in White Flint early last Saturday evening, November 16, 2024. The robbery was reported in the 11600 block of Rockville Pike at 7:52 PM Saturday. That is around the "North Bethesda" Metro station (formerly and more accurately known as the White Flint Metro station).
"formerly and more accurately known as the White Flint Metro station”. Sorry but no it’s not more accurate. White Flint was a mall. North Bethesda is the area. White Flint is no more.
ReplyDeleteWhite Flint was White Flint long before the mall. It was a golf course first and part of the community surrounding it.
DeleteI thought it was misleading when Robert recently characterized the work on The Corner Slice as a "demolition" (although it was only the removal of interior elements); but I've got to defend him here, by pointing out that both "formerly" and "more accurately" might refer to the period when White Flint was a mall. It could have been written more clearly if that was the intent ("formerly more accurately"), but the man is, after all, regularly providing useful and otherwise hard-to-find information for free.
ReplyDeleteAu contraire, the Metro station was named "White Flint." FWIW, North Bethesda, is more accurately South Rockville but just doesn't have the panache, the Metro station is two stops from Bethesda proper. Don't get me started on North Potomac and DC'S AU Park.
ReplyDeleteYou say Flint, it's Flint. Period.
ReplyDeleteWhite Flint was a mall that closed going on 10 years ago. Imagine people who move to the area and wonder, “wtf is White Flint”. It has no bearing on a location at this point except in memories and a sign in front of an empty lot.
ReplyDeleteWe accept crime so much that historic trivia becomes the topic! Very sad, I hope it's not too late to turn our ship around.
