A 2nd-degree assault reported at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda yesterday bumped the year's tally of assaults at the property past last year's total. Montgomery County police were summoned to the mall Tuesday afternoon at 2:33 PM, after someone was physically assaulted during a shoplifting incident. Yesterday's assault was the twelfth reported at the mall in 2025, officially surpassing 2024's total of eleven. Police have been more visibly patrolling the mall in recent months, working closely with mall security officers. But the permissive attitude of County elected officials regarding crime - including retail theft - has made it challenging, with a relentless parade of shoplifters ransacking stores countywide.

What a total bleep show. Meanwhile, Jack McCarthy sleeps good at night. Talk about rubber stamp. No one bothers to look into his ideology and keeps reelecting him forever. Tough on crime versus restorative justice is the only way to go. McCarthy never heard of the former. Basically restorative justice means let them out with zero punishment. What a disgrace.
We are breaking records!
JAC, I don't even recall him having a general election opponent in 2022, that's how sad the political landscape is in Montgomery County today. Somebody could really go to town on his misogynistic case record alone.
10:13 - Robert, I think you're right. If I recall, he ran unopposed. Remember, it's not the cops but soft on crime prosecutors and judges that are the problem.
Assault, simple assault at best. So they get arrested, more than likely they have a wrap sheet longer than wrapping paper to the north pole. What's accomplished?
