White Flint construction update: Harwood Flats apartments (Photos)


Harwood Flats
, an apartment building at 5454 Nicholson Lane in White Flint, is well-along in the construction process. The Foulger-Pratt development will hold 335 units and 4500 square feet of retail space. A second phase of the development will add 232 more units to the site in the future. Delivery of Harwood Flats is anticipated for Q2 2022.

It's a perfectly nice looking building in a terrible location. It's across from a WMATA bus depot: Fumes and noise galore. Not to mention that the White Flint Mall Site is pushing up weeds.

Phase 2, not yet under development, will include up to 14,000 SF of retail and an additional 232 multifamily units."

I agree about the location being not so good. But they put it there really because it's a couple of blocks from the METRO. The problem is there is so much unsightly stuff between there and the METRO. It becomes a question of whether being near the METRO Station overrides the unsightliness of the immediate area. I am not convinced but I'm sure they have good future plans for the area so in time it will all work itself out. But it will take 5 or 10 years.........

@3:17 PM: That's a good point. Like you said, the area is at least 5-10 years away from any substantial redevelopment, and this building is just the 1st phase. Of course, that means that the second phase won't appear anytime soon. Hopefully the construction quality is decent because the 1st phase will need a rehab by the time that happens.
