Maman Joon Real Persian Kabob has opened at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. It is located right by the parking deck entrance on Level 2 of the mall, the same garage level that California Pizza Kitchen fronts onto. That spot has seen some turnover since Tara Thai departed, so keep your skewers crossed that Maman Joon can make it work.
"We take pride in creating authentic Persian food that reflects our heritage," Maman Joon says on its website. "Our ingredients are always fresh, most of our spices come from Iran, and our menu is lovingly prepared using our treasured family recipes."

I think if Maman Joon can afford a location at Tyson's, they definelty can afford to run this location at Westfield, but it's sad that I noticed Westfield evicted the concierge car service
They are a nice kabob place; good luck to grill Kabob business inside the food court. This beats it by x100
I stopped there this afternoon, excited to see the place and to try their wares. I left without ordering a single thing. The place appears to charge a bit over 50% more than does the Moby Dick chain, which offers similar fare. An entree of beef kabob, (“chenjeh”) is $22 at Maman, $25 if you order 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad w/the dish, unlike Moby, where it’s standard to get both for $13.50; appetizers are $7.50 and $5, respectively; a chunk-chicken sandwich is $14 at this new place and $7.50 at the Moby Dick chain.
The other night my mother and I stopped for a bite at a Moby’s on the Pike and Nicholson. Two fountain drinks, two entrees, six sides ran just shy of $80 after tax, which seemed…substantial. Maman Joon might be delicious, but a potential $120+ tab for two at a kabob place with a menu board and an order counter is simply fleecing customers, as far as I’m concerned. Good luck to them, but they’ll not see me in the place.
Isn't that the name of that reality show with the overweight woman & the spaz daughter on A&E network?
