Barbed wire Bethesda (Photos)

Downtown Bethesda took on more of a Checkpoint Charlie ambiance yesterday, as barbed wire fencing was installed around the outdoor plaza at the Apex Building at 7272 Wisconsin Avenue, and the Connor Building at 7720 Wisconsin. Both buildings are being demolished - the Apex for a massive Carr Properties mixed-use development, and the Connor for a Westin hotel.

These are the two potential sites for Marriott HQ. The conner building is slated for a Starwood hotel, and Marriott now owns Starwood. The Apex building is on top of the Metro (and future purple line), and mass transit is important to Marriott. The advantage of Marriott choosing the Apex site: they can have both a HQ and a hotel. The Marriott Suites on Democracy was an important appendage to Marriott's present HQ.

Why isn't Dyer reporting on the double murder at Westfield Wheaton yesterday?

That's a lot closer to Bethesda Row than Park Potomac.

  5. 7:42: Already did - on the website for Wheaton news, not Bethesda.

Looks like you got pwned regarding your claim of job losses in MoCo, on that otherwise deserted blog.

  7. 8:00: Not deserted. Growing larger every day. You can't get "pwned" by fake statistics, dumbass. I won that argument, and will continue winning it until we get a new County Council.

"Speaking of "basic facts:" you're 100% wrong in your claim "Montgomery County experienced an embarrassing net *loss* of private sector jobs...since 2000." Most recent (Q2 2016) BLS count has MoCo private sector jobs at 471K, roughly 100K higher than in 2000."

    2. 8:29: Sorry, I'm 100% right. We even got whipped by Culpeper County. Yee-haw! Even them country folk whipped the County Council. Humiliating. More jobs added in Culpeper than in MoCo! God, that's humiliating. Deputy Barney Fife is gonna waterboard you if you ever venture into them parts, I reckon.

Thank god we have Larry Hogan standing up for development projects, the purple line, and standing against Dyer's man Trump. Jobs will flood into Bethesda and Maryland!

Um..You do know that Hogan is attending the inauguration and will work with President Trump, right?

Which is great for those of us who live in Maryland.

Gosh, you're desperate. Look at you begging, pleading for Dyer's attention.
Chill out. Dyer isn't running your life, your are, act like it.

No news of the closures at Monty Mall? Nothing on Bethesda chocolates finally opening? I feel like you took enough pictures of their buildout but didnt even report that they opened? Did they not pay you enough? No news of the part of Wisconsin being shut down?

Seems like this POS is going the way of Borderstan.

Over/Under on 2 more months of this crap making it?

12:09pm Bethesda Chocolates opened weeks ago, so Dyer already reported that.
Dyer already reported on Wisc Ave.
Please read Dyer's sites to get caught up on the news!

1115 and 159 are immature mental midgets
The barbed wire is similar to Puerto Rican downtown areas in barb wire bc of the crime and burgularies.
I am in the process of putting a moat with pirrahanna and barbed wire around my home in Bethesda
The ghetto trash from DC and Montgomery village and the MS-13 illegal gangs look at Bethesda as a candy store

I got shanked 10 times tonight by the MS-13 hispanics on the way to Lucy Activewear. Darn. Now the nanny will need to pick up my bespoke Yoga socks tomorrow.

@ 8:03 PM - You think you have it hard?

Robert Dyer can't post here tonight because he was run over by a runaway grocery cart in the parking lot of the Westwood Giant.

@915 - God bless the person who pushed that cart. Wished they had pushed harder.

Though Dyer will probably blame it on Hans Reimer or some other dumb shit like that.

I pushed that cart and m'gosh am I glad I did so. You see, I had just finished my soulcycle class and wanted to show off my new lower body strength on someone, so after I sat on my husbands face, I went to the Westwood Giant looking for Dyer and ka-boom! Suck it mo' fuckaaaa!
