New renderings of development that will replace the Apex Building in Bethesda

A couple of new renderings of Carr Properties' proposed mixed-use development at 7272 Wisconsin Avenue have been released. These are the first photo-realistic images to have been shown so far. The preliminary plan for the development, which will replace the Apex Building, was approved by the Montgomery County Planning Board last Thursday.

Is there supposed to be an underground tunnel to the red line or something?

Is there going to be an entrance from where the capital crescent trail leads out to Bethesda Avenue and Woodmont?

So, are you going to at least give a hat-tip to the reader who posted the link, last night?

Is there going to be a men's room in an isolated part of the building, with a squeaky door?

5:03: High-speed elevators down to the Red Line. Underground Purple Line station.

5:05: Yes, there is a grand staircase that will take pedestrians down to where the Bethesda Row Cinema. The trail will come out of the tunnel to Bethesda Avenue as always.

5:06: How do I give a hat tip to an anonymous reader? He or she wanted to have the renderings posted, and here they are.

Love the design, but let's see that new theater in there :)

Will there be elevators to the Metro directly from the purple line station or will you have to go up to street level to access them?

I love the way Bethesda Magazine anonymously left a link to the press release, waited for Dyer to publish his crappy article, then wrote a much better article of their own, very shortly thereafter.

No need for a hat tip. Always willing to point out news we all want to share. Did you all notice that the section through the building recently posted does not show a theatre anyl onger. I am guessing they are trying to max out the parking to be as close as possible to Marriotts requested 2000 spaces. As Robert has pointed out, the size of the project would need Marriotts request if they used the same massing, but swapped out the apartments for more office and a 200 room hotel.

Too bad about the theatre, but the plaza looks nice, lined with restaurants on two sides. Combined with restaurants along the west side of Wisconsin and the north side of Bethesda Avenue, the Dean and Deluca, and a better Woodmont Plaza design, we could get Bethedsa Row to extend all the way from Arlington to Wisconsin, and create a dynamic new district of dining, shopping and at least one cinema.

Curious about the timing of the new tunnel under Wisconsin for the CCT, and how it will connect through the park. Looks messy to me with lots of turns to get back to the trail. Their plans call for "knock out" panels at Wisconsin which i take to mean the trail under the road is a future phase.

10:42: All lies. Real story -> They read my article at 8:00 AM, and wrote a knock off a few hours later. They're reporting stuff I broke weeks, months and even years ago. So much for "better,' unless you prefer microwave leftovers to Le Diplomate.

Didn't Robert say that articles based on press releases, public social media accounts, etc., don't count as copying?
