Freddy, American Classic Clothes closing at Westfield Montgomery Mall (Photos)

Freddy, the Milan-based apparel boutique at Westfield Montgomery Mall, is closing. Known for their Sloungewear loungewear and shape-enhancing Wr.up jeans, the store had a decent run of nearly four years at the mall. They are having a closing sale with prices 60% off everything in the store.

Also on the way out, is children's apparel store American Classic Clothes, which has been open since August 2013.

    If I remember correctly, American Classic made their clothes quite locally -- in Gaithersburg. The prices were reasonable, but the designs were really boring. No way I'm dressing up my daughter to look Amish.

  3. 6:21: That's interesting, I had no idea they were a local company.

      @ 6:35 - Some "hyperlocal journalist" you are. I can't believe that some "civilian" actually had to tell you this.

    ACC has been very popular among Catholic school girls for their church-approved First Communion, graduation, and Confirmation dresses (must have sleeves, must be long, etc.). That'll leave quite a void in that specific market.

    I spoke with someone at ACC about their closing. They are planning to sell via their website after the store closing and are hoping to open again in a few months (somewhere with lower rent).

      "[They] are hoping to open again in a few months (somewhere with lower rent)."

      They leave MoCo Mall, wait for a dozen more shops to leave, then come back and sign a new lease for much lower rent. Clever strategy!

  8. 8:25 AM Meanwhile, other local bloggers stuffed themselves with free chocolates and are plied with free beer & pizza from local restaurants. You didn't say a peep about that! :)

    @8:01 I bet they can get cheap space in Lakeforest Mall, and then it's closer to their main office. Lakeforest is a dying mall and rapidly.

    I suspect that there is a subtlety to this fear of love that is not immediately apparent.

    @8:04AM - PPD, I'm sorry to say.
    Paranoid personality disorder (PPD) is one of a group of conditions called "Cluster A" personality disorders which involve odd or eccentric ways of thinking. People with PPD also suffer from paranoia, an unrelenting mistrust and suspicion of others, even when there is no reason to be suspicious.

    This disorder usually begins by early adulthood and appears to be more common in men than in women.
