Pepco crews have begun installing underground wiring for the Marriott International project along Wisconsin Avenue, Norfolk Avenue and Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda. The Marriott development team says the workers are pulling electrical cable through newly-installed subterranean electrical duct banks. Pepco's work hours for the project are 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM in the Woodmont Triangle; expect to encounter lane closures in that area in the coming nights, weather permitting.

Does this mean that the utility poles along Woodmont will be removed and placed underground? Those poles, and the tangle of wires and transformers would look very odd if they remain next to a sleek new glass office tower and hotel. They aren’t visible in any of the renderings.
