A security camera robot that has been surveilling Veterans Park at 7898 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda this summer has been removed. The camera had been stationed there since June 1. Montgomery County, as well as some private businesses like the nearby CVS Pharmacy, have employed the robots as a tool to combat the crime wave that has persisted since 2020. The County has primarily deployed the cameras in the downtowns of Bethesda and Silver Spring.

It's a disgrace. Our local, glitzy magazine, has a piece about retail crime, smash & grab, etc. This should not be happening in Bethesda that's for sure. Defund, demoralize the police, and soft on crime prosecutors should be ashamed. There are areas in this country where this is not a thing at all and ours should be among them but it isn't. Keep voting Dem only and this will indeed get worse and won't ever get better. Crooks need to be hit hard and face severe consequences. These are the same dumb people taking out the entire side of Little Falls Parkway for a bike lane. Those darn cars.

JAC as usual didn't read the article in the local, glitzy magazine where the defunded (nope), demoralized (nope) police commander Daum is quoted saying,
"As summer winds down and back-to-school shopping is expected to begin in downtown Bethesda, the area remains a safe place for people to visit, shop and eat with their families and children, Daum told MoCo360 in an interview.
She noted that incidents involving police in downtown Bethesda usually range from shoplifting and disorderly conduct to the occasional inebriated person on a weekend night.
“We are extremely fortunate that it is a very, very safe area,” Daum said, noting that in the entire Second District–-which covers all of Bethesda and Chevy Chase, Cabin John and North Bethesda-–theft of all types has decreased by nearly 21% in the last year."
Move to Texas or Florida already and fearmonger there, this area doesn't need or want your lies.

Coinciding with the latest report from The Coalition for Law Order and Safety that violent crimes are significantly underreported, and FBI crime classification has changed. 8:16 is happy with the new stats until the change in administration at which point reporting accuracy will skew the other way
12:39 - Huh? No amount of this kind of crime is ok. This area did not ever, in the past, experience smash and grab or walk right out with stolen stuff type of crime in the past. The police have been demoralized. I have a relative who is a long time MoCo officer. Their recruitment is dangerously low, their early retirement is way up as officers are getting out due to this liberal/progressive environment and soft on crime. No one said it wasn't a safe area in general. Of course it is. Many have moved to those states and others. I have not expressed anything untrue. You can simply disagree. They can site any stats they want but police chief says nothing. County Exec, among the most radical local leader anywhere, says nothing. Where is Marc Elrich anyway? What does he do to help anyone? No one knows. They take a victory lap on removing travel lanes in favor of bikes. No one cares about that and the things that local citizens really do care about, they do nothing. Keep voting Dem. It's gone so well for this area.
8:16 - Not spinning a negative at all. Do you agree that any amount of smash and grab crime, etc is acceptable? A negative? I think that a police robot surveillance pole is a disgrace. Police have been hurt bad mostly in terms of morale. And what the good work the police do in apprehending these thugs is often undone within hours by soft on crime machine in Rockville. They get out in a day or less just to commit more crime. Not sure what you're talking about.
Just to be clear, the Commander Daum quote above refers to theft only, and to a much larger area than downtown Bethesda.

Ok, glad you know what she REALLY meant despite what she said. You people are so weird.
