UPDATE - June 28, 2025, 7:40 PM: &pizza has reopened.
UPDATE - June 27, 2025, 9:33 PM: &pizza says, "there’s a water leak that’s being repaired. We will be back open any day now." There is no sign or message referring to this posted at the restaurant, however.
&Pizza has closed "for now" at 7614 Old Georgetown Road in The Metropolitan in Bethesda. The "for now" caveat was added by the local chain in a message to customers without explanation. One could be that a number of &pizza locations have been sold to at least one franchisee, as the company attempts to move from direct ownership to a franchise model. They may want to give that franchisee, or another, the option to reopen this store before dismantling it. &pizza opened here over 11 years ago, in May of 2014. That's a good run in Bethesda by any measure.

I never tried them because they seemed contrived, offering a goofy-looking rectangular pie. [Hooray! A post from someone who knows absolutely nothing about the subject, but who nonetheless thinks his opinion matters.] That caveat notwithstanding, it seemed the place almost always had cars double-parked outside as people picked up orders. Their pies may have been silly looking, but it sure appeared a lot of people found that unorthodox shape no less tasty.
More elliptical than rectangular. In Rome, the pinsa is a similar shape. If you haven't tried pinsa, you're missing out. Via Roma in DC has it.
Went there frequently until I discovered Gusto which had better ingredients, friendlier employees, no booming "music", cleaner roomier restrooms AND plenty of room to sit & eat both inside & outside until they unfortunately closed.
The one down just south of Tenley Circle looks dormant, as well.
I guess Gusto couldn't stand the kitchen heat and quit. Both of you lose.
Ive worked for this company and this was one of the locations I worked at, the company is going down hill due to the new ceo.
They care about image of the company over the wellbeing of their staff. This is not a company that doesn't things the normal way. Managers are not actual managers(they give you the title, yet you dont learn about ordering, making deposits, scheduling, etc. Your a babysitter) and now I have to go back to entry level work because managers aren't really managers.
The pizza tastes good for a cheap franchise spot. My problem with it is that it's not filling at all. 1200 calories and you'll still be hungry. Junk food pizza.
