MD not a pro second amendment state? Fine. Everyone get a Byrna. I agree that it's not the most catchy name. But these non-lethal firearms are pretty incredible and are 💯 legal in all 50 states and require no license whatsoever. They are really getting compact now and would be ideal for a woman's purse and for men, there are countless carry options. Even police are ditching their Tasers for the Byrna. Lastly, we have to fight back. This is BS and the police, who are blocks away, can't help you. It's too late by the time they get there.

Can't wait for the PL!

Shoot back, dammit!!!!!!

Bethesda is slowly but surely becoming SS 2.0.

I didn't hear it because the scanner feed for all districts is "off-line."

One has to now always just assume that the perp is armed. MD needs a 'stand your ground' position on self defense of health, life, and property.

These opportunists are a cancer that needs to be excised and our gubmint is more interested in their care and feeding.

JAC, all those truisms are correct: "when seconds count, the police are minutes away (best case scenario, tho) and "it's better to face 12 jurors than 6 pallbearers."

One never know how far these cretins will go in incidents where they have all the control, remember they are coming after you. It's horrid that we cannot protect ourselves except with toys.

1:04 - Yes. I would rather have the Byrna non-thethal option to neutralize a threat than nothing. It's not worth it in a deep Blue state to have a firearm even legally permitted. It's better than nothing which is what most good and decent citizens have. Gun laws do nothing. The bad guys always, always have a weapon and usually a gun. They don't care about any gun restrictions because they're crooks. Duh!

Is seems that the focus has shifted from Westbard to Downtown Bethesda.
Hoping that the Zenith Overlook shooting doesn't become a victim of oblivion.

You don't want to try this on me. Seriously. You'll have the biggest surprise of your life.

I was on your side when you first mentioned this piece of equipment, but thought it through... Can you imagine walking around 2D Bethesda packing one of those things and actually pulling it out to defend yourself and any responding MoCo popo shooting YOU or me thinking it's the real McCoy? They use lethal force (IMHO justified) for nut jobs holding knives, machetes, swords & hammers. Aiming something at someone in this town nowadays is a dangerous proposition since few folks have ever even heard of the Berna with the exception of readers on this blog.

We need more folks like you doing more of what you mentioned, for real.

But, but the COG determined that the crime rate is falling. . .

6:40 - I understand your point. I had thought about getting the black one. No, in a crazy, anti -gun area such as this, you have to get the bright orange version which clearly identifies this self-defense weapon as a non-firearm. Remember, legal in all 50 states even MD. The police are well aware of Byrna. Made in the USA by the way. It's better than having nothing.

6:42 PM: I do it gladly and safely. It's a lot of responsibility and I take it very seriously. Went through the legal process. Got plenty of instruction and continue to train regularly. I have quality equipment that I'm proficient with. I'm never seeking a confrontation, but I won't be a victim nor will anyone else I'm with if a confrontation seeks me out. In addition to that gear, I also carry pepper spray and a tactical flashlight with strobe so I hopefully don't have to resort to those other means.

I'm not a fan of Byrna. I conceal carry a firearm and I also carry pepper spray and a tactical flashlight with strobe. For me, the Byrna feels like a firearm and functions like one.... which is why I don't carry it. My belt-line spray canister feels very different and is much less bulky. You don't want to be reaching for the wrong thing in a confrontation. That's happened in police officer stops with tragic results. Plenty of footage on YouTube of officers mistakenly pulling their gun when they thought it was their non-lethal gear.

8:30 - I understand that and good for you for exercising that choice. The non-lethal is not for you but could be for many. Carrying a gun is a huge responsibility. The orange version of that firearm is a must. There's no mistaking on the part of law enforcement that way, who may respond to a scene, and no confusion on the part of the user because they're only carrying the Bryna. Again, it's better than nothin which is what most decent citizens have against a most certainly armed threat.

Copy that.

For the record, I've lived pretty much in a broad swatch of America, from very rural to extremes of both 'right and left' leaning: have a CCW, and intermittently 'carried' a broad array of various weapons. When you're armed, trained, and confident you exude control. The perps see it, one little show of weakness opens the door to these opportunists we invite to our neighborhoods. Tho I'd love to engage and catch these cretins with impunity the reality is you just want them to go away, or unfortunately, elsewhere. Just like our police that run with blue lights defeating any stealth, you want them off your shift and sector. But there no stopping them without resolve of our naive, shortsighted, and stupid elected officials. All you can do is make them seek the weaker. Sad but true!

I agree. The Orange Byrna is definitely better than nothing. People should do what they're comfortable with. The biggest mistake some people make with carrying a firearm is they do it before they're really ready to. It takes a lot of instruction and practice.

4:19 - And even a non-lethal carry weapon requires training and practice.

Just saw a Berna commercial for the first time on tv last night!

11:07 - Great company made in the USA. Many law enforcement agencies are ditching their Tasers for the Byrna. It's legit and if more people carried weed have less crime believe me. The idiot crooks know we aren't carrying and they are.
