Hampden Lane has reopened between Wisconsin Avenue and Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda. However, it is still closed at East Lane. And it's unclear how the single lane near Wisconsin is going to operate if two cars meet going opposite directions. The street had been closed for the construction of Hampden House, which is nearing completion.

Hampden Lane is currently one way only, heading west. At least until the construction fencing for the Charles comes down in a few days. Hampden House is offering free parking for tenants until Elm Street is fully open to traffic as a courtesy to new tenants who will need to share a narrow 12’ wide, two way drive for a while. Reserved parking costs $325 per space, and $375 per space with an EV charger. Quite a savings. The Hampden House is also offering two months free rent with a 21 month lease, also a large savings. They already have signed leases for over 100 or the 366 units, and they aren’t even allowing tenants to move in until October 1.
That section is basically a third world country.
I'm sure there's no need to worry about two-way traffic meeting in the single passable lane, Robert. These towers are monuments to the Utopian car-free lifestyle. The streets surrounding these latest temples in our "walkable community" will be populated solely with a vibrant, eclectic, ethnically-diverse assortment of cheerful, helmeted bicyclists and toned, fit joggers who will happily cede the right-of-way to their fellow cycl- and ambul-ists at any constricted passages. Cars? Heated driver confrontations, displays of dominance, arguing who goes first and whose bank account is bigger? How vulgar. How. . . pedestrian. How Bethesda.
lol yep
Say the Iron Block immigrant.
What's with all the Jiffy Johns?
Heckuva job, Brownie!
