Part of the interior of the new Citibank branch at 4760 Bethesda Avenue looks finished, but when you zoom out, there's still work to be done. That finished wall features a slick-looking Citibank logo sign, with the words "Bethesda Row" underneath. There's little new about the idea of referring to this area of the downtown as Bethesda, but this is the first time I've seen a company put it in official branding. The building is not actually part of the Bethesda Row development. Bethesda Row is owned, and was developed by, Federal Realty. The Flats at Bethesda Avenue, in which the Citibank branch is located, is owned by BlackRock.

Looks nice!
Who uses banks anymore?
An interesting idea to rebrand Bethesda Row and Bethesda’s new “downtown”. With the new Bethesda Metro Station entrance and Purple Line Station opening soon, one could argue the this will become the new epicenter of activity in Bethesda. Certainly not the geographical center, but likely the most heavily used destination, centered on the future Capital Crescent Civic Green and Federal Realty’s award winning Bethesda Row development. Especially with the apparent decline of the so called Bethesda Metro plaza area with little economic activity or new construction. Brookfield seems to be having a fire sale of their largely vacant office towers at steep discounts, while the Wilson, Avocet and 4747 Bethesda Avenue buildings are filling up.
The homeless were hovering in front on that soon to be ATM spot, protect your pin# folks!
