The latest of several road diets on Little Falls Parkway implemented - or, more accurately, inflicted upon the public - by Montgomery County has opened to vehicle traffic. In the newest iteration, a grass median has returned between a single travel lane in each direction between Arlington Road and Dorset Avenue. The latest road diet was overwhelmingly opposed by the surrounding communities, and by 73% of residents who took valuable time to testify before the Montgomery County Planning Board. Public input was thrown aside by the board, Montgomery Parks, and the Montgomery County Council, who put the steamroller in gear and floored the accelerator over the people who pay their salaries.

And why wasn't a bridge installed over the crosswalk from one side of the CCT to the other, which would have been a 100% solution? Because it's not about pro bike or safety but anti-car. This is the insanity of a deep Blue, one party cabal. The only way to change this is to STOP voting for these morons. They've destroyed a beautiful parkway and jammed the traffic up in the bargain. Indeed...it is a solution looking for a problem. Imagine wasting money trying to create traffic jams and duplicating a bike path that already exists steps away.

Awesome. As someone who is constantly nearly getting run over by clueless overly caffeinated and impatient people as I try to cross the street while walking the CCT, couldn't be happier. The fact it annoys JAC is just a bonus.

Love how 9:59 implies a 32 vote margin is a mandate to do what 73% of the people who spoke up against this project AND if you disagree, leave. Bet that household is a very lonely place not to mention a much larger tax burden if the current trend of middle & upper class taxpayers leaving MD.

10:00 - Money is your answer as to why they didn't just install a bridge over the CCT? I hate to tell you but what they've done already and what still remains to be done well cost the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of dollars if not in the low millions. So do you have an actual breakdown of costs? I don't but I'd love to see a comparison. I don't think any such data exists but please share if you know for a fact that a bridge would cost more than destroying Little Falls Parkway. Thank you.
This has nothing to do with the CCT crossing. That was going to stay restricted no matter what. But the other 90% of this "road diet" has nothing to do with the CCT. This is just what happens when the elected officials don't use common sense. If they had bothered to leave their offices in Rockville, they would have seen that no one needs or wants this extra bike trail that adds no value to our transportation or recreation network, nor would it be a pleasant park to spend time in. Shouldn't the fact that neighborhoods surrounding this area spoke out AGAINST a bigger park have told them something. The idea must be really bad when locals don't want a new park. Why didn't someone put the parks people in their place? If they wanted more parkland so badly, then they should have made the new Westbard park bigger. Missed that opportunity didn't we! But at least our road network is being destroyed as we speak so that congestion is getting worse every day due to deliberate anti-car decisions.

JAC - why don’t you move some place where you never have to encounter pedestrians or cyclists impeding your endless drives from one drive-thru fast-food joint to another drive-thru fast-food joint? Or just use a delivery service?
Parks is accountable to no one. They basically do whatever they want and face no consequences. Take a look at the disaster of adding more parks to downtown Bethesda. They collect Developers money and do nothing.
