Montgomery County police responded to a report of an assault at the Giant supermarket at 5320 Zenith Overlook in Bethesda on Wednesday night, January 7, 2026. That is at the Westbard Square development. The assault was reported at the grocery store at 8:50 PM Wednesday.

More incidents of crime there after the total redesign of that center than any year prior. I never, ever heard of anything happening at Westbard before now. That entire area should be avoided. The new Giant stinks anyway. The old layout was much better.

The neighborhood is stuck with the poorly designed garage for generations to come. They've added speed bumps and stop signs to the ramps on each level to try and make it safer to drive.
There had to be better examples of how to design garage ramps.

Shooting at bowling...cars broken in to during the day...all from people who dont live or eork around there...know cares or knows ....I would if I paid over a million for townhouse.........
The garage is poorly designed for ramp safety, head on collision hazards, but smartly designed for mugging, robbing and stealing.
You need a golf cart to get around inside the store.

I checked out the new Wegmans in Rockville. I can see why the chain is possible. Unfortunately the cafe area is already being colonized by homeless. Not just down on their luck types but folks with a lot of interest in other folks doings. Regular customers will be harassed.

Obviously if you are the victim of a crime, you are impacted. Even if it’s a one in a million occurrence, to you it’s still a very big deal. This reminds me how many folks feel about using mass transit, believing it’s much more dangerous than driving a car. Statistically you are much more likely to be injured or killed when riding in a car, compared to riding on mass transit. It folks believe that if they are in control, they are some how safer.
By the way, I spent most of my life living in the Detroit area. In the 1980’s there were over 700 murders each year, in a city about half the population of Montgomery County. Of course any murder in Montgomery County is horrible, but impacts a far smaller percentage of the population than many, many places.

Here's a clue, when you and your bosses start enforcement of existing laws, maybe you can enjoy the success that comes with doing the job that you were already over compensated for. Trump did it in DC and the border in very short order so all it takes is determination and the willingness to do what's right but looking at your track record and statistical excuses to do what you're doing which is the same thing over and over expecting different results, ignorance and apathy seems to be your aspirations. This redevelopment project has been a train wreck in slow motion since started up two decades ago. It's been lies and deception all along. Remember when it started as downtown Annapolis? Remember the wildlife parks and babbling brooks? Remember the green rooftops? Nature and every other genuine success of this history has been stomped out and driven away.
