The new McDonald's restaurant at 11710 Rockville Pike has been hampered since its opening last May by a lack of signage easily visible to drivers traveling that busy commuter corridor. McDonald's is aware of the problem, and I've received word that they will be requesting permission from Montgomery County to install a freestanding pylon sign by the roadside. What dimensions the County will permit for that sign remains to be seen. I know that the pylon sign installed at the River Road McDonald's in Bethesda earlier this century, before the even-stricter sign rules were implemented by the County, is notably shorter than the typical Golden Arches sign seen elsewhere in the country.

That type of roadside sign would not be permitted in upscale North Bethesda, but in White Flint, why not? Nothing says pedestrian friendly, transit oriented development like a gigantic, freestanding sign. Let’s make it high enough so it is visible from the Beltway!

We all are just expressing our amusement at how White Flint has changed its name to North Bethesda to somehow improve its image. I guess South Rockville was not considered…
MACdonald's doesn't need any signs nor any advertising ad nauseum, the unhealthy ilk will always find Ray Croc's brainchild wherever it is.
The service at this McDonald's has been atrocious so far for pick up.

Absolutely Agree. I refuse to use this McDonalds because of that. I either use the River Rd one or the Twinbrook one up the street.
Probably don't put much creedence in zoning and such too, I bet. Hint: theae are the fundamentals that separate us from the 'third world.'
The River Rd service is great.
The problem is getting in/out without hitting a pedestrian!
