Unless the assault was completely random, or connected to some type of robbery attempt--either of which would make it relevant to other homeowners nearby--why is this item worth disseminating generally?

As I’ve mentioned here several times before, 2nd-degree assault, a misdemeanor, is the causing of intentional, non-serious physical injury or fear of harm. It can be charged for something as little as spitting on another or shoving someone in the shoulder. With no provision for hearing the police radio traffic that would have offered details of the confrontation and the magnitude of any violence, it is perhaps ambitious, an extravagance, excessive, an embellishment to necessarily characterize the misdemeanor incident as “violent crime.” It may have been an actual stranger attack, but it could as plausibly have been a belligerent neighbor getting a bit out of hand — e.g. “Quit shoveling your snow onto my side of the fence!”

First-degree assault requires a clear attempt to cause life-threatening injuries, often with a weapon. Second-degree assault can involve less severe injuries or a reckless disregard for safety rather than an intent to cause grave harm.” https://www.matthewpenicklaw.com/blog/2025/april/the-differences-between-first-and-second-degree-/

Scooter delivery and such do open the door to 'casing' opportunities. Not to mention a "third world" harbinger: Just saying.....

So, Robert, are we to assume that you're reporting here every "violent crime" listed on police reports for this area?
If not, why not?
And if so, I think the last few years of your blog show that Bethesda is still a relatively (and maybe even very) safe area.

Do we know the nature of the assault, that is, was it someone simply walking by that house, was it random, did the people involved know each other, etc? Thanks.
