The Bling Ring burglars have been quiet for a couple of weeks, after breaking into homes in several exclusive neighborhoods in Bethesda and NW DC.
A pair of recent burglaries in NW are worth noting, for those attempting to track the whereabouts of the Bling Ring.
This past Sunday, August 5, break-ins occurred in the 1700 block of Surrey Lane NW, in the wealthy Foxhall enclave, and in the 3900 block of Reno Road NW.
It is unknown if these crimes are related to the previous Bling Ring spree. But both fit their pattern of targeting expensive, old-money neighborhoods.

ARE SPRING VALLEY "BLING RING" BURGLARS NOW CASING BETHESDA?
Burglary alert! After 2 break-ins in Northwest DC's swanky Spring Valley last Tuesday, a third burglary was reported in Bethesda's even-swankier Kenwood neighborhood two days later.
Burglars apparently after high-end loot invaded posh homes in the 3800 block of Fordham Road, NW and the 4600 block of Verplanck Place, NW, on July 17.
On Thursday, another burglary took place in the 5800 block of Highland Drive, in ultra-exclusive Kenwood.
A fourth burglary on Battery Lane does not seem to fit the pattern of the first 3.
However, having heard no announcement about this from authorities, I want to give readers a heads-up about the possible border-crossing of burglars into Bethesda. It's never a bad idea to lock your doors, windows and vehicle to ward off crooks out for easy pickins.

BETHESDA THIEVES ROCK NEIGHBORHOODS WITH ENCORE PERFORMANCE

Bethesda burglars and thieves rampaged again, with their usual m.o. of hitting the same neighborhoods and streets again and again. 3 thefts in Green Acres alone, the community hardest hit during this crime spree.
It's time to put out a bait car or something, because these guys are out there night after night after night since May 4. If it's more than one perpetrator, they share a great sense of confidence.

BETHESDA BURGLARS RETURN TO WISCASSET ROAD
A brief streak of burglary-free days came to an end Sunday in Bethesda.
One or more burglars broke-and-entered in the 6500 block of Wiscasset Road June 10.
This is the second break-in in weeks on Wiscasset, fitting the m.o. of previous burglars during this crime wave, which began May 4. The burglar(s) in those cases - one of whom was arrested several times by Montgomery County Police - often hit the same street multiple times.

BETHESDA BURGLARS HIT SAME BLOCK TWICE SUNDAY
AUDACIOUS BREAKING-AND-ENTERING
RAMPAGE IN GREEN ACRES CONTINUES

According to SpotCrime, which obtains crime data from a Montgomery County Police feed, according to its CEO, the Bethesda Burglars struck twice on the same block Sunday.
The burglar(s) have returned to streets for a second time during this crime wave that began with a burglary on Westbard Avenue May 4.
But this is the first time they've pulled off two burglaries on the same street on the same date. If all of the reports are accurate, the burglars are breaking in at will, apparently unafraid of being caught.
Sunday's break-ins were both in the 5300 block of Yorktown Road. Not surprisingly, that's in the Green Acres neighborhood, where the majority of the burglaries have taken place. You'd think that flooding Green Acres with undercover cops would bring this burglary rampage to an end fairly quickly.
It's difficult to speculate in any detail, when no details have been provided by the police department yet. Maybe if we knew a simple fact like what time(s) of day the burglaries happen, it would shed more light on their m.o.
All there is to go on is the raw data from SpotCrime.
In any case, this would be the tenth burglary in Green Acres alone this month, if I'm counting correctly.
If these reports are accurate, the county really needs to take action on this.

BETHESDA BURGLARS BURGLE AGAIN!
It must be pretty exhausting being a burglar on a breaking-and-entering rampage since May 4. So it's not surprising the Bethesda Burglars took a few days off.
But according to the newest data from SpotCrime, the well-rested criminals got back to work last Friday, May 18.
Three burglaries occurred that day in the Bethesda area. The one we can reliably tag the Bethesda Burglars on was in their favorite stomping grounds of - guess where - Green Acres.
Specifically, in the 5200 block of Ventnor Road.
That same day, they or another set of burglars also struck in the 4300 block of Chestnut Street east of downtown Bethesda.
Then they went down Chestnut until it turned into the 8000 block of Newdale Road, and hit there, too.
Are the latter two crimes part of the Bethesda Burglars' rampage? Hard to say. It's not in their "preferred" geographical area of west Bethesda. But it does fit their style of hitting more than one street, ones connected to each other, in the same night. So, it's a match for M.O., but not geography.
Where will they strike next? Stay tuned!

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER BREAK-IN
BURGLARS STRIKE AGAIN IN
GREEN ACRES AREA OF BETHESDA

After burglars took Friday off to rest, after a week-long, breaking-and-entering rampage in west Bethesda, they struck again Saturday.
The majority of the burglaries were in the Green Acres community, and, sure enough, they broke into a home directly across from that neighborhood's entrance in the 5300 block of Willard Avenue.
This is the 10th breaking-and-entering burglary case in the area since May 4.
Busy thieves pulled off their second theft in the 5300 block of Westbard Avenue in as many days, as well, Saturday.
That brings this crime wave's serious incident total to 20 crimes since May 4. Ironically, the crime spree began on Westbard, which had been under heavier police patrols after the January 19 armed robbery in the Park Bethesda parking lot.
Those uniformed, marked cruiser patrols appeared to have been reduced in recent weeks. It would be a good time to start them again.
The burglars appear to be operating with impunity in the Green Acres area at the moment.
It would be a sensible time to hear something about these crimes from our county government and police department. Residents can't take extra precautions if they are unaware a crime wave is underway. I would have no idea any of this had happened, were it not for the crime reports available from SpotCrime.

GONE IN 60 SECONDS: 2 CARS STOLEN IN 24 HRS. AS WEST BETHESDA CRIME SPREE CONTINUES!

At least no homes were broken into Friday! The latest crime reports out of West Bethesda indicate that a bizarre crime spree continues there.
A rampage that has included 9 incidents of breaking-and-entering since Friday, May 4, added 4 more thefts Friday, May 11, according to SpotCrime.
Two cars were stolen that day, one in the ultra-wealthy neighborhood of Kenwood, and one in the 5400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Friendship Heights. The crime wave has been centered in the Bethesda community of Green Acres off River Road, where the majority of cases were reported.
Green Acres is adjacent to Friendship Heights. No details have been released on any of the crimes so far, but I would just speculate that the only parking facility in the block of 5400 Wisconsin is the Wisconsin Place garage. I believe the building across 355 is considered to be Wisconsin Circle.
Besides the stolen cars, thefts were reported at the Westwood Shopping Center on Westbard Avenue, and in the 4400 block of S. Park Avenue in Friendship Heights (noticing a pattern here?).
I have yet to hear any statement from Montgomery County or the police department regarding the crime spree.

BURGLARY RAMPAGE EXPLODING IN WEST BETHESDA

An apparent burglary ring struck several more times in the Green Acres neighborhood Wednesday night, and the crimes are beginning to spread to adjacent areas in West Bethesda.
The burglar(s) broke-and-entered into four homes Wednesday night alone, three of which were again in the Green Acres community. In the most brazen case, the burglar(s) returned to hit the very same block of Little Falls Drive they had burglarized just two nights earlier.
This unusual crime spree has now spread to Westbard Avenue and Wilson Lane in Bethesda.

BURGLARY RAMPAGE ROCKS BETHESDA'S GREEN ACRES NEIGHBORHOOD
A burglary spree has broken out in West Bethesda's Green Acres subdivision, located off River Road near Friendship Heights.
Three homes and one vehicle have been broken into just since Sunday night, according to SpotCrime, which collects crime data from a Montgomery County Police feed.
All but one incident took place within a few blocks, along connecting streets.

The pattern would suggest that the same perpetrator(s) are pulling off these crimes. It would also suggest that the burglar(s) are thoroughly casing the neighborhood by day, to keep coming back night after night.
I'm surprised the police have not issued an advisory. Right now there are no details of the crimes, nor any description of the suspect(s).
If you know anyone who lives in Green Acres, or a nearby subdivision, please alert them that a possible crime spree is underway this week. Without data or reports from Wednesday forward, it's unknown if the burglar(s) has/have struck again. They are clearly brazen, confident and well-prepared, to keep hitting the same community night after night.
