Today, May 8, 2018, is Free Cone Day at Haagen-Dazs, located at 7237 Woodmont Avenue at Bethesda Row, or on Level 1 in the Old Navy wing at Westfield Montgomery Mall. LoveSac, Peloton, Haagen-Dazs open at Westfield Montgomery Mall; Shilla Bakery posts signage (Photos)

LoveSac, the retailer of customizable sectional furniture, has opened at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The furniture features machine-washable covers.

LoveSac calls their most popular sofa a "sactional" sofa. The store is located on Level 2 by Aldo.

Also debuting is Peloton, with perhaps the most unique mall kiosk seen yet. Prospective owners of the high-tech exercise bike and subscription video service will be able to test out the wheels in a glassed-in room (complete with closing doors) in the center of the mall corridor.

This ostensibly will let you focus on the video screen and audio by shutting out the sounds of the mall. At the same time, you will be on display in a glass cage.

Ice cream lovers will be delighted to know that Haagen-Dazs has reopened on Level 1 in the Old Navy wing, after a renovation.

As I previously exclusively reported, Shilla Bakery will also be opening soon in the mall's Dining Terrace. They've installed some Coming Soon signage in the last few days.

Vinci opens at Westfield Montgomery Mall, Haagen-Dazs to return (Photos)

Vinci Leather has opened at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The shoe and boot retailer is in the spot vacated by Sheepskin and Alpaca Too on Level 2. Downstairs, Haagen-Dazs continues to misfire in the public messaging department. First they abruptly closed and put up a blank wall, looking as if they'd left the mall for good. Then they didn't even leave a note or sign saying the closure was temporary. A week later, they've put up an advertising screen that makes it sound like they will be a new addition, when they are simply renovating their existing space.

Another tenant with Coming Soon signage is sneaker collector emporium Kicks USA.

UPDATE: Haagen-Dazs is open again at the mall

Haagen-Dazs has closed at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda for renovations. UPDATE: It initially appeared the store had closed pemanently the day this picture was taken, but the store owner informed me the closure was only temporary for the remodeling. Haagen-Dazs is now open again.

BETHESDA FINE ARTS FESTIVAL, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

This isn't exactly what it sounds like, so don't start running the other direction, thinking you'll need a masters in Fine Art to enjoy this festival.

Instead, "Old Town" Bethesda becomes a market of sorts along Norfolk, Auburn and Cordell Avenues.

That means you'll be able to meet artists, and buy their creations, such as paintings, photos, furniture and jewelry.  Some of these folks have traveled from across the country to be here.

In addition to engaging in cultural pursuits, there will be fabulous food from BlackFinn, Haagen-Dazs, Hard Times Cafe, Mamma Lucia and Yamas Grill (if Yamas has gyros or lamb burgers, grab one!).

There will also be live music.

The hours are 10-6 today, and 10-5 Sunday.

Broaden your mind, and shrink your wallet, at this annual fine art experience in downtown Bethesda.

Well, it has something to do with the shop's wall mural being completed.  And during the four hours of free ice cream, there's some talk about the mural "coming to life."

I guess it's kind of like Night at the Museum.  With free ice cream.

And we have our priorities in order in downtown Bethesda, don't we?
