An invitation-only event was held yesterday for L.L. Bean fans, who were able to shop the two-level store before the general public. On hand for the event was L.L. Bean retail store Senior Vice-President Ken Kacere, who presented a $5000 donation to local chapters of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Also spotted on the premises were Montgomery County Councilmember Sidney Katz, and the famous L.L. Bean Bootmobile, which attracted cellphone camera users passing through Rose Park in front of the store.
Kacere thanked property owner Federal Realty, noting that it had taken the Maine-based firm over a decade to find the ideal location for a store in this area. He said Pike & Rose not only wanted L.L. Bean, but that the youth of the development meant they would have the opportunity to build exactly the store design they wanted. There will be activities and giveaways all weekend at the new store.

L.L. Bean to open November 10 at Pike & Rose

L.L. Bean will open at Pike & Rose on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 9:00 AM. The grand opening will be extended through the weekend, with giveaways, family activities for all ages, and a visit from the Bootmobile, which harks back to L.L. Bean's original product, the Bean Boot.

The celebration will start on November 10, when the first 200 customers through the doors will receive an L.L. Bean gift card worth up to $500. On Saturday and Sunday, take free fly-casting and archery lessons from the experts at L.L. Bean's Outdoor Discovery Schools, and enter to win a trip for four to Maine. Sunday will be "kids day," featuring wildlife programs, activities and games with local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops.

A PIKEPaws Pawty will be held in Rose Park (which is right outside the L.L. Bean store) at 10:00 AM Sunday, where the coverdog for the PIKEpaws 2018 calendar will be announced. The calendar will be available for purchase.

Photos with the Bootmobile will be available all three days.

L.L. Bean's 35th location outside of its home state of Maine will be 22700 SF in size, and employ about 75 people.

L.L. Bean to open at Pike & Rose

L.L. Bean is coming to Pike & Rose in North Bethesda's Pike District, the Maine-based company announced this morning. This is the second major outdoor sporting goods tenant to come aboard at the Federal Realty development; REI has a large store currently under construction there.

The L.L. Bean store will open this fall, in a 2-level, 22700 SF space, and employ around 75 people. Merchandise offered will include active and casual apparel and footwear, as well as outdoor lifestyle gear including hiking, fly-fishing, and kayaking, plus winter gear and camping products. As with every L.L. Bean store, the Pike & Rose location will offer L.L.Bean’s Outdoor Discovery Schools, with demonstrations, clinics and introductory hands-on courses for all kinds of outdoor recreational and fitness activities.

L.L. Bean said that the heavy use of the many trails and parks in the area factored into their decision to open a store here. “The North Bethesda location is going to be a great home for us," L.L. Bean senior VP and GM of retail Ken Kacere said. "This is a lively, active area with some great outdoor recreational opportunities nearby like paddling and fishing on the Potomac, or cycling along the extensive network of local trails."

Stu Biel, VP of leasing at Federal Realty, said he is "thrilled" to score the Maryland flagship store of L.L. Bean at the development, which is in the midst of Phase II construction. “This 105 year iconic brand focused on outdoor living is a perfect fit for Pike & Rose," Biel said." Both LL Bean and Pike & Rose aim to inspire and connect others with a deep commitment to community and challenging the status quo. Together, our neighbors, residents, office workers and beyond will benefit from educational programs, on and off site events and a tried and true product line and place that will serve to inspire for decades and generations to come.”
