Sign installed at Nothing Bundt Cakes in downtown Bethesda

The sign is up at Nothing Bundt Cakes at 8209 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda. A national chain, Nothing Bundt Cakes offers 1950s Bundt cakes in 8" or 10", tiered Bundt cakes, Bundtlet miniature cakes, and bite-sized Bundtini cakes. Flavors include Classic Vanilla, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet, White Chocolate Raspberry, Confetti, Carrot Cake, Lemon, Marble, Pecan Praline and current special Blueberry Bliss.
Construction is underway inside but there's still a ways to go before it's finished. Nothing Bundt Cakes was previously scheduled to open in the spring, but that was before the pandemic interfered with just about all well-laid plans worldwide.

Nothing Bundt Cakes coming to downtown Bethesda

Bethesda's new year is starting off on a decidedly retro note. Days after interpretive signage at a new Capital Crescent Trail plaza on Bethesda Avenue touted the car culture and automotive sales history of Bethesda, the 1950s classic Bundt Cake is now arriving via time machine at the Rosedale Park apartments. Nothing Bundt Cakes has leased space in the building at 8209 Wisconsin Avenue to open a bakery, according to signage posted in the windows.
Nordic Ware trademarked the Bundt Cake name for its cake molds in the 1950s. Sixty million Bundt Cake pans have been sold in North America since, according to the manufacturer. Nothing Bundt Cakes is a separate entity, a bakery chain founded by Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz in 1997. The Bethesda location is scheduled to open this spring.

Property behind Rosedale Park apartments for sale in Bethesda (Photos)

One part of a potential redevelopment opportunity behind the Rosedale Park apartments in downtown Bethesda is now on the market. 4712 Rosedale Avenue, a 1933 house now used as office space, is being offered for sale at $1,495,000. The 2100 SF office space will be available immediately upon purchase, according to a listing for the 4800 SF property.
Just to give you an idea
of the redevelopment potential
here, a wider shot of the
two "office houses" behind
Rosedale Park
What may provide the ultimate value here to the patient investor, would be a potential assembly of this property with the adjacent "office house" next door at 4710 Rosedale, for a larger redevelopment of the site in the future. It is expected to receive a CRN zoning via passage of the Bethesda Downtown sector plan, meaning it could be a mixed-use development.

In the meantime, as an office space, the property has 14 surface parking spaces - which would be very lucrative to rent by themselves.

NIGHTTIME BETHESDA ROAD WORK DRIVING RESIDENTS CRAZY (PHOTOS)

I have posted photos of road crews working, and lane closures, on Wisconsin Avenue by Battery Lane the last 2 nights.

But many residents of nearby homes, and apartment buildings Rosedale Park and 8200 Wisconsin, are telling me - and county police - they've had enough of the overnight racket.

The State Highway Administration is referring to the project as road maintenance work. It involves digging in the roadway, and steel plates that are being knocked about by passing cars.

As you can see in the photos, a massive Vermeer saw is utilized in the work.

There is no indication how long the 9 PM - 5 AM cacophony will last, but permits for such work are often issued, and have been in this case. The permits exempt a contractor from nighttime noise restrictions. Alas, little announcements in newspapers rarely come to the attention of affected residents during the comment period for noise waivers.

It's clear from the many unknowns that residents were never directly informed about this project.

NINOTCH SPA MOVING TO NEW BETHESDA LOCATION IN ROSEDALE APARTMENTS

"URBAN RETREAT" IS
OFFICIAL MASSAGE THERAPY
GROUP OF
WASHINGTON NATIONALS

Another Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row Exclusive

Ninotch, an "urban retreat" spa currently located at 7720 Wisconsin Avenue, will move up to the Rosedale Park apartment building in November.

The official massage spot of the Washington Nationals, Ninotch also offers facials, acupuncture, and waxing.  They also specialize in organic, sunless airbrush tanning, for which it was named the best by Washingtonian magazine.

Last evening, a team of men were working furiously inside the new location.
