Taylor Gourmet closes at Pike & Rose

It seemed like only yesterday that Taylor Gourmet reopened its restaurant at Pike & Rose. But it has now closed permanently. The timing is sad, because the store would likely have seen an increase in lunch sales from all of the new office workers relocating to Pike & Rose for Choice Hotels (which will have its own new office building), and for new 909 Rose office tenants Carl M. Freeman Companies, Prudential Financial, and ACA Group.

Taylor Gourmet opening at Pike & Rose today at 11 AM

Taylor Gourmet returns to Montgomery County today. Their shuttered Pike & Rose location at 926 Rose Avenue will reopen this morning at 11:00 AM. The reincarnated hoagie chain says the first 25 people in the door will get a free T-shirt. Not bad!

Taylor Gourmet to reopen at Pike & Rose

Taylor Gourmet, which not long ago was on the verge of disappearing entirely, has announced it will reopen three of its shuttered sandwich shops. According to the chain's website, one of the revived locations will be at Pike & Rose. The others are Dupont Circle and Pennsylvania Avenue in the District. All three are expected to open before the end of this summer, according to the announcement.

Taylor Gourmet to close all locations after Sunday

Taylor Gourmet, the D.C.-area hoagie chain whose locations include Bethesda Row, downtown Silver Spring, and Pike & Rose, will close all of its restaurants at the close of business on Sunday, according to Washingtonian magazine. Among the reasons cited for the closure were financial troubles with landlords at some of their locations, expanding too rapidly, and a brief downturn in sales after owner Casey Patten participated in a 2017 business roundtable with President Donald Trump, who is unpopular in all of the cities where Taylor Gourmet operates.

The chain has not publicly commented on the closure report on its social media accounts as of press time. Taylor Gourmet had recently experimented with new menu items such as burgers, tacos and fried chicken sandwiches.

Taylor Gourmet opens today at Pike & Rose

Taylor Gourmet's newest Montgomery County location will open today at 826 Rose Avenue at Pike & Rose. The fast casual hoagie shop is in the ground floor of the Canopy by Hilton hotel at the Federal Realty development. Signage has been installed at the future Taylor Gourmet at Pike & Rose. This will be the hoagie purveyor's third Maryland location. Will they open in time for the limited-time Nacho Taco Trio to be ordered here? Stay tuned!

Tacos at Taylor Gourmet?

Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, Taylor Gourmet has added tacos to their menu for a limited time, at all Maryland, D.C. and Virginia locations except Reagan National Airport. Their Nacho Taco Trio went on sale Monday. The three tacos are filled with fried chicken, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato, diced red onion, pepper jack cheese, and topped with crema and crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos.

Hard to believe it's been a year already since Taylor Gourmet introduced cheesesteaks to its hoagie lineup. Even harder to believe is the special, limited-time-only sandwich they've invented to celebrate the anniversary.

Taylor Gourmet collaborated with Danny Lee of DC's Mandu restaurant to create the Mandu Cheesesteak, available this month only. Philadelphia meets Seoul as Bulgogi-marinated ribeye, butter-grilled kimchi, aged cheddar cheese, toasted sesame and scallions are piled high on your choice of bread.

Spring is in the air, despite the rain, and that means it's time for spring menu items at the popular Taylor Gourmet at Bethesda Row.

Among the temporary additions? For starters, there are Seasonal Risotto Balls, a spicier twist on Taylor Gourmet's signature Risotto Balls appetizer. Roasted corn, chives and smokey bacon join the classic mozzarella, with an appropriately zesty Parmesan Black Pepper sauce.

For hoagies, the main draw at Taylor Gourmet, new selections include a Turkey Greene with Green Goddess dressing, two vegetarian additions (Cumberland with chickpea fritters, Chestnut with a grilled zucchini cutlet), the citrus-braised pork with pepper ham Castor, and the Crystal Hot Sauce-splashed Memphis Raines chicken cutlet (grilled or fried) hoagie.

3 new salads are available for those seeking lighter fare, including the Columbus Salad with kale, cherry tomatoes, roasted corn, avocado smokey bacon, and black pepper parmesan dressing; and a Roasted Corn Salad.
