Registration is now open for Bike-to-Work Day 2014 in Bethesda. Bethesda Transportation Solutions, the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA), and Montgomery County Transportation Solutions are co-sponsoring the regional DC event, and will be hosting a Pit Stop at Bethesda Row that morning, from 6:30-8:30 AM.
Enjoy a live DJ, food and drinks, raffles and prizes, bike check-ups to make sure your bike is in top shape, and a free commemorative T-shirt of your bike-to-work adventure. Win a killer new bike from Bethesda's own Griffin Cycle. And if you work in downtown Bethesda, nominate yourself (or a friend/co-worker) for the Bicycle Commuter Spirit Award now. You could win -"it's a major award."
The Bethesda Row Pit Stop will be near the corner of Woodmont and Bethesda Avenues, near the Bethesda Row Cinema and Capital Crescent Trail (Reed Street, for GPS purposes).
Get yourself ready for the big day by visiting BTS staff members in Veterans Park on May 1, or May 8, for free snacks, information, and a chance to register in-person. Veterans Park is at the corner of Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues.
On May 9, from 6:30-9:30 AM, enjoy free coffee at the Bethesda Avenue trailhead of the Capital Crescent Trail.

WATCH OUT FOR THAT [*OUCH!*] CAPITAL CRESCENT TRAIL DETOUR IN DOWNTOWN BETHESDA!
Drivers have been suffering since Lot 31 closed for construction of The Darcy 6 weeks ago.
Now it's cyclists' turn.
Bethesda Transportation Solutions is warning Capital Crescent Trail users entering the downtown area from the west (by Ourisman Honda) of this temporary, 2 month detour.
If you're a regular on the trail, you've already noticed this.
The detour is not really designed with cyclists in mind, as you can tell from the sharp turn. So slow down, or you could crash head-on into a fellow biker or pedestrian around the bend.

BIKE TO WORK FRIDAY AND MAKE A PIT STOP AT BETHESDA ROW
This Friday, May 18, is Bike to Work Day 2012! A chance to improve the environment and your health, you can register online.
Bethesda Transportation Solutions is not only promoting BTWD - and bike commuting in general - but they're also organizing a Pit Stop at Bethesda Row Friday morning.
Stop by the Pit Stop at the corner of Bethesda and Woodmont Avenues between 6:30 and 8:30 AM Friday, where you'll find food, games, and prizes.
And you can learn more about bicycle commuting. If you are one of the first 11,000 to register for BTWD, they'll also have a T-shirt waiting for you.
You may even be able to hook up with a bike convoy going your way.
But you can also stop by just to learn more about being a Bethesda bike commuter, even if you aren't riding a bike Friday.
Lots of Bethesda sponsors have chipped in to make the Pit Stop possible, including Whole Foods on River Road, Unity Woods Yoga, The Greater BCC Chamber of Commerce, Bethesda Bagels, Equinox, Bethesda Green, Spring Mill Bread, Honest Tea, Hard Times Cafe, Lilit Cafe, Naked Pizza and the YMCA.
Make plans to make a pit stop at Bethesda Row Friday!
