Sneak peek: Starbucks at Hyatt Regency Bethesda hotel (Video/Photos)
There's been a lot of progress at the newest Starbucks in downtown Bethesda. But it's not yet clear if this store is the more upscale Starbucks Reserve design, or just a regular store. The store will be in the ground floor of the Hyatt Regency Bethesda hotel at Bethesda Metro Center.

Big Greek Cafe to replace Yamas Mediterranean Grill in Bethesda
How appropriate that the vacant former Greek restaurant Yamas Mediterranean Grill is being replaced by another Greek restaurant. Signs went up on the building Saturday touting the imminent arrival of The Big Greek Cafe. The building is located at 4806 Rugby Avenue. Greek cuisine is heating up in Bethesda, as a second Greek restaurant is opening soon a few blocks away.

Sign installed at Amazon Books at Bethesda Row
The first permanent signage has been installed at the future Amazon Books store at Bethesda Row. A canopy/awning has also been added to the facade. Amazon Books is scheduled to open this summer at the corner of Bethesda Avenue and Arlington Road.
B | BOP | Q to close at Westfield Montgomery Mall
Korean fusion eatery B | BOP | Q has announced it will close its restaurant at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. They will officially close as of tomorrow, April 29, 2018. The restaurant lasted almost two-and-a-half years, having opened in December 2015. If B | BOP | Q is one of your favorites, today is your last chance!

Sneak peek: Pampillonia Jewelers at Bethesda Row
The construction walls have come down at the new Pampillonia Jewelers on Bethesda Lane. It has a different interior design than the Mazza Gallerie store, but you can see the chandelier has made the move to the new location. The vintage-style display cases are also carried over from the original store.

The sign is up on the front of Thelo Greek Grill, opening soon at 8009 Norfolk Avenue. It replaces the recently-closed Bistro LaZeez. They are currently still hiring for all positions.

MoCo Council At-Large candidate forum tonight in Aspen Hill
A candidate forum for the Montgomery County Council At-Large race will be held tonight, April 26, 2018, at 7:30 PM at the Aspen Hill Library, located at 4407 Aspen Hill Road. The forum is sponsored by the Aspen Hill Civic Association, Friends of the Aspen Hill Library, the Aspen Hill Library Advisory Committee, and the Strathmore-Bel Pre Civic Association.
Among the candidates participating will be Robert Dyer. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Escape Quest escape room to open in downtown Bethesda
Bethesda is getting a second escape room. Following last year's opening of Xcape Alive in the Westwood Center II mall on Ridgefield Road, Alexandria's Escape Quest is expanding to downtown Bethesda. Escape Quest will be located at 4936 Fairmont Avenue. Escape rooms have become a popular tenant in retail spaces where redevelopment is pending.

Mystery drilling operation underway in Bethesda garage (Photos)
Drilling for oil? The drilling company vehicles long parked outside the public garage on Cordell Avenue are now being put to work - inside the garage. It's quite an operation, but Montgomery County did not feel it necessary to inform the public as to its duration or purpose.
Cell towers to get taller atop The Promenade in Bethesda
Existing cell towers atop The Promenade are about to get taller. AT&T is proposing to increase the towers to a tip height of 213'.

Montgomery in Bloom returns to Westfield Montgomery Mall (Photos)
The 2nd annual Montgomery in Bloom celebration is underway at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Enjoy free product giveaways, spring product tutorials and demos, and live entertainment in the display area in the Nordstrom wing through May 12. Participate in workshops ranging from gardening to building the perfect bird feeder. See the full schedule of events on the mall website. New this year is a Farmers Market, which will start May 5 from 9:00 AM-1:30 PM in the parking lot at the corner of Westlake Drive and Westlake Terrace.
