BabyCat Brewery setting up outdoor seating ahead of opening in Bethesda (Photos)

We've previously seen some furniture and fencing outside the future BabyCat Brewery at 4850 Rugby Avenue in the Gallery Bethesda II apartments. Now that, and some additional tables and seating, are being set up for use. BabyCat Brewery hopes to open this new Bethesda Taproom before the end of the month.

Looks like it will be a great addition to Bethesda !

6:01 - I agree. But will the great line, "If you build it, they will come" hold true here? Bethesda seems very often dead after 9pm. Where do all the hundreds of people, who live in these luxury buildings, on every corner, go? I've seen many coming and going from their building and they're mostly younger professionals.

Good news

I can't claim to know what all the younger professionals are doing...but the three I know that live in Bethesda spend most of their time in DC...down around U Street, Logan Circle, Union Market. They appreciate the options that are right out their door for say watching football games (Caddies still seems the go to place) and a quick meal. They live in Bethesda because they either work in Bethesda or Rockville (or even Tysons) and want to lessen their commutes.

I think it's well documented that younger generations don't drink as much as older ones do. Also I think many of the people buying these condos are empty nesters in bed by 7pm.

Living in Bethesda to “lessen a commute” to Tysons!?

You clearly have NO IDEA what you are talking about.

Only a masochist would love in Bethesda and commute to Tysons 😂

2:28 - That's really interesting on the down trend in drinking which is great for your health but not good for a new brewery. Ha! You may be onto something there. As to these luxury buildings, that are far from fully saturated, (many more in the pipeline) there are empty nesters for sure but also plenty of successful singles and those just starting their families as well.

HaHa, I'm that masochist :( I live in Bethesda and own a business in Tysons, so I get the pleasure of that commute. And you're correct, it's brutal. Once the kids are permanently out of the house it's bye-bye MoCo and hello NoVa.
