The long waiting game for The Velvet Room at 8020 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda continues. But a new image of the future speakeasy has been posted inside the entrance, as seen above. Originally expected to open in February 2025, the establishment has remained unrealized for more than a year since. Let's hope this is a sign of things moving forward at last.

Their liquor license was approved in November 2024. I guess this is what you get when the people behind it don't have restaurant/nightlife experience -- massive delays.
Will definitely visit once they finally open up. I drive by that street a lot, and every weekday there's usually 2-3 contractors walking in and out doing some kind of work. No idea why it's taking so long.
Aventino/AP took even longer. So are the places paying market rent this whole time? I don't know how they can start a business so far in debt from that.
