Maryland Governor candidate Ed Hale vows to cut vehicle registration fees, gas tax

Baltimore resident Ed Hale, running for governor of Maryland as a Republican, is proposing a significant reduction in the state's vehicle registration fees. The fees, massively increased recently by current Governor Wes Moore and the Democrat-controlled state legislature, are now so high that the state has been forced to offer a payment plan to residents already cash-strapped by high housing and grocery prices. "The cost is ridiculous," one resident complained in a video released yesterday by the Hale campaign. "They wanted me to pay almost $400!" "It's awful," a vehicle owner at the Reisterstown Road Motor Vehicle Administration office in Baltimore said. "Who can afford it? It's too much money."

The skyrocketing fees are "just another way to grab money from you," Hale said at a press conference outside the MVA office. Hale has vowed to cut vehicle registration fees back to the level they were before Moore hiked them. He is also proposing to reduce the state's gas tax, as well as Moore's tire tax.

"We know you have to get to work," Hale said. "We know you have to get the kids to school and to practice. The tire tax, gas tax, registration fees and vehicle emissions fees are outrageous and I'll bring this situation under control."

Drug Drunken started that increase before the black professor took over...

Doug Duncan was the last democrat in MC with half a brain.

Don't get distracted on Duncan even though he was the last D with any sense. Wes Moore needs to be hammered on the stolen valor situation which is not something servicemembers and vets take lightly. Moore is ultimately interested in one thing, Moore. He will run for president yet has a snow ball's chance this cycle. As Trump said to the black community, "what do you have to lose?" MD needs to swing back R.

You are absolutely right about Moore. He thinks he should be Pres ‘cause he knows stupid whites will vote for him for no other reason than his color.

Unfortunately the double standard applies here. The MSM won't address Moore just like Waltz as it only matters if a republican does it. The biggest liars in congress are Adam Shiff, whose primary residence is in Potomac, and Eric Swawell who slept with a known CCP spy while on the intelligence committee also has a primary residence in DC, and of course our own Jamie Raskin whose wife got a job with a company after she got favorable contracts to while "working" in government. Raskin also has a lot dubious behavior but totally ignored by a friendly press.

ROTFLMAO! That moron must have money to burn, or a gift from the king of grifters to gamble with. He'd have better luck stealing a Nobel prize.

Funny, you don't hear anyone in the military now rattling any sabers over this issue, It's been asked and answered. Kind of like the 2020 election.

Leggett had a whole brain and used it well.

Reduce the registration fee? Sounds good. Reduce the gas tax? Sorry. I like my roads to be well maintained. Or we could follow the Virginia model (since Virginia is spoken of so highly around here) and have both a yearly inspection fee and personal property tax on vehicles.

I still don’t understand why you think that there is a “Cartel”.

7:39: The state budget needs a crash diet. Spending must be reduced significantly.

7:39: Because there is a cartel that controls the County, and its members are public information.

So much for Gov. Moore to sling at this loser. He commissioned his own biography (full of himself), community college dropout, snitch for the CIA, abandoned parent, and.....a RINO! This dude won't make it out of the gate, and instead of cutting the vehicle tax, may windup cutting license plates.

So… where can one find this “public information”?

@ 5:27 AM You got some splainin to do, which should include reference to your republican loyalty even with their destructive history.

9:02 can't get up in the morning without blaming Trump for not brushing his teeth. Grow up and start reading all the news.

7:39 doesn't understand that roads are supposed to be maintained by the revenue generated by road-use fuel taxes so their EV is essentially pushing the expenses off on those who actually buy fuel in MD.

Robert is correct in the call for reduced spending as the fuel tax revenue has been put into the general fund so democrats can fund their own progressive vanity projects and then complain that taxes and registration fees are too low. Liberals will never stop spending other people's money because ignorance like 7:39 is ready to tow those talking points without any actual knowledge.
