Robbery at knifepoint in Bethesda

Montgomery County police were called after someone was robbed at knifepoint in Bethesda in broad daylight on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. The robbery was reported in a commercial parking lot in the 10200 block of Old Georgetown Road at 2:44 PM Wednesday. That is the Wildwood Shopping Center. The incident continues the shocking recent trend of violent crime during daytime hours.

It really is interesting that few if any of these stories ever appear in the local press. If Robert has this information, doesn't local TV, etc have it too? Wildwood is a popular center on a major road. Why isn't this being highlighted? Does anyone know? Are stories like this appearing on the evening news? Maybe I've missed it. Makes no sense.

Robert, have you tried asking Montgomery County Chief of Police Marc Yamada for an interview on crime trends in this area?

Chickens coming home to roost.

I agree with this actually. Was the rape/assault at Bethesda Library ever mentioned on local news?

Wow, all this crime. These bad guys must be driving their own cars or car jacked cars, taking MetroRail, Metrobus, taxis, RideOn, Bethesda Circulator, riding their bikes, Ubering, or even just walking to find their victims. What ever shall we do when the Purple Line opens?

Grosvenor Lane which leads to wildwood manor is a hotbed of carjackings, home invasions and assaults. This was the safest neighborhood no crime on the 1980s-2010

5:27, crime is gonna happen, we all know that. I'd like to just mitigate it and make it less appealing where it's inherently just more inviting. The PL hopefully doesn't mean Pipeline. The synergism of groups, large and small, doesn't bode well.

2:33 - Not that I know of which illustrates my point. Question is, why?

Local news covers the whole region. These are small stories. Local news does not cover "regular" robberies or assaults. Additionally, these are not very image heavy stories. You hear about them after the fact. This is not going to be covered on your local tv news.

Siding with JAC and always questioning why isn't shown on local TV evening news?

8:07 - That really makes no sense, but ok.

It's like when colleges & universities (I'm talking to you, UVA) hide their number of rape cases on campus so as to not deter any future prospective families from thinking twice about sending their precious little angels off to college unaware.

Wildwood Manor?! This is absolutely heartbreaking … great middle class neighborhood we would walk to shopping center at night hang out playing ball going to swimming pool in dark .. no crime .. metro destroyed so many neighborhoods but up
Until 2010 was still safe … Biden border hombres invasion

It must be truly exhausting living life as terrified as you do.

From 1984 to 2010 it was safe, but since then it’s not? Are you saying that during the first 26 years of Metro operation, crime was not an issue in lesser neighborhoods, but somehow now the Metro is a problem not to mention the future Purple Line? How far is Willwood Manor from a Metro station, let alone a future Purple Line Station, or even a dreaded BRT Station? Are we safe anywhere?

Basing your hombres tie-in to this on what, specifically?

@12:18 It must be exhausting to tout policies that have never worked yet you voting for the same thing over and over again expecting different results
