Six Ways to Sunday aiming for April opening in Bethesda (Photos)

Almost two years after announcing its plans to open, Six Ways to Sunday is now hoping to debut next month at 8003 Norfolk Avenue in downtown Bethesda. The Sino-Siamese gastropub leased the space back in May of 2024, and had planned to open that summer. Diners may find the wait to have been worth it, as the owners of the restaurant say they are aiming "to redefine the gastronomic landscape of the capital city."

Chefs Lekki Limvatana and Satang Ruangsangwatana bring a wealth of hospitality experience in the D.C area to their latest enterprise. They have collaborated on a Southeast Asian food truck in Kensington, and operated Thai Supperclub in Washington, D.C. Bar Chinois in Mount Vernon and SURA at Dupont Circle have both benefitted from their roles as consultants and skilled chefs. Six Ways to Sunday will be their next venue to showcase their fusion of Chinese and Thai cuisine.

Odd terminology. “Siam” hasn’t existed since 1939.

Also, it would have been helpful to point out that this location was The Corner Slice pizzeria for many years.

9:06: You may be thinking of a similar corner two blocks up. This was home to Satsuma, and before that, the legendary Buon Giorno.

Sounds like the title of a Clint Eastwood movie.

Bethesda needs more bars

I remember Satsuma used to be on that site. They had a great $12 seared ahi tuna salad I could eat all day. I thought Satsuma and it's neighbors had to close to make way for a new building. What happened to those plans for that block?

Bethesda used to be a town of a multitude of upscale lounges, sports bars, Irish pubs and even Chatters.

On the plus side, we got a brewery back.

The Bethesda Row side of town is notably lacking any sense of nightlife now.

8:19: The condo developer finally folded and sold the property. The new owner has plans for a retail building on the Steamers site.

Do you carry that negative attitude throughout your day?

Are the pictures provided from the new space or from satsuma?

I heard the long delays were due to plumbing issues. The renovations weren't passing WSSC inspections and the landlord was having difficulty fixing things to pass.
