Taco Bamba opening in Bethesda

Taco Bamba
is expanding to downtown Bethesda. Chef-owner Victor Albisu has signed a lease for the space most recently occupied by Casa Oaxaca at 4905 Fairmont Avenue. Albisu said he will retain the popular outdoor patio from the previous tenant, but plans to strip the interior down to the studs. Expect Taco Bamba to open sometime this fall. Taco Bamba's Bethesda expansion was first reported by Bethesda Magazine.

Good, I'll go to the new place but Oaxaca sucked and the chicka's at the counter were rude, nasty self-righteous and would argue with you about a menu item wording, which figures because we all know that it was nothing but a money laundering situation.

Sound obs. ervation 2:30, probably.... I think quite a few of these storefront businesses are all about money laundering. When they're restaurants now having to underwrite higher expenses for waitstaff will only increase 'churn' but now they do incur real expenses. Non restaurant money laundering like vape shops and hookah lounges (DTSS, more so) are still prevalent. I earnestly believe one new lounge here in Bethesda is here primarily for money laundering, so much churn!

Casa Oaxaca was a popular restaurant. It wasn't unusual to see the dining room and outdoor patio space full of customers. The food was consistently great.
Doesn't sound like a money laundering operation to me.

I don't know about money laundering but Casa was good at the beginning but didn't get up the same level. Yeah, we had some issues there with staff as others have said but I can't remember exactly. Taco Bamba blew me away when I firt tried it in Arlington. They will do very well here especially if they have a bar like the Congressional Plaza location. Outside dining would be nice unless they decide to expand their dining room and enclosed that space.

How long will it be able to last in MoriBamba Montgomery County?

I've eaten at the Gaithersburg location (so-so) and the Congressional location (very good/ excellent). Hopefully, the new Bethesda place will be equal to Congressional.

Hope they don't play loud music in the outdoor area like their DC location does. Oaxaca held late-night outdoor concerts and played amplified loud announcements numerous times in the day and night and often past allowed noise hours. The County issued fines but the owner didn't care; issue was about to go to court shortly before they suddenly closed.
