Update on Call Your Mother Deli in downtown Bethesda

A painting crew is working on the exterior of the future Call Your Mother Deli at 4828 St. Elmo Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Gone is the drab gray of former tenant Hardwood Artisans, and in its place is the distinctive blue shade of the CYM branding colors. The windows are still covered, so we can't see the progress on the interior fit-out. Construction has been underway since April 16.

Something is very off about this. It takes a month, two tops, to renovate a space like that.

Yikes that’s bright. At first I thought it was a photo of the new reflecting pond at the mall…

So you have been able to draw plans, pull permits, hire contractors, demo, rough and final MEP, and do finishing for a restaurant in a month? Please share when and where you have done this before because that is pretty impressive.

I think maybe they only hire Hamas and Hezbollah supporters to do work for them if the staff behind their Georgetown location is any indicator.

6:55 - Actually, you're right. This is MoCo. I forgot. It'll take 18 months to two years to open a bagel shop. My bad.

I expected it would take awhile. This spot hasn't been a restaurant since Johnny Rocket in the 90s. That whole kitchen infrastructure needed to be built out.

You really are colorblind.

Finally, someone with sense about what it takes to return this spot to restaurant use. All of the prior occupants plumbing was removed and those connects for water, sewer, and electric has to be returned to the new occupants needs. Thank you!!
