Menchie's, a frozen yogurt kiosk on Level 1 at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, appears to have closed. While the kiosk is still intact, it wasn't operating during normal business hours Sunday. The business remains on store directories around the mall, but has been removed from the mall's online directory and map. A sign on the kiosk simply says, "Closed."

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt opens in Bethesda (Photo)
Well, they weren't able to open in time to serve the holiday Egg Nog flavor, but Menchie's Frozen Yogurt has finally gotten up and running at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Find them on Level 1 outside of Forever 21.

Olivia Macaron opens at Westfield Montgomery Mall, Menchie's construction update (Photos)
Olivia Macaron has opened a kiosk at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The local company is best known for its standalone macaron-and-coffee shop in Georgetown, but is expanding into malls with kiosks here and in Tysons Corner.
The selection of flavors at Olivia puts many French bakeries to shame, with regular varieties that include blueberry cheesecake and Fruity Pebbles alongside more traditional choices. Seasonal flavors include PB&J, Pumpkin Spice, Candy Cane, Gingerbread, and an Egg Nog macaron that even sports the red and green candy dots found on Christmas cookies.
Meanwhile, the seemingly-eternal construction of Menchie's Frozen Yogurt continues apace at the mall. Tables and chairs have arrived, and yogurt dispensers are in place.

"All new" Aeropostale coming in January, Menchie's construction update (Photos)
Troubled chain Aeropostale is sending mixed messages at its Westfield Montgomery Mall storefront in Bethesda. Going-out-of-business-style signs screaming "Everything must go!!" and, "Entire store 70% off," share equal billing with another sign, which promises an "all new Aeropostale" in January 2017, and a reassurance that "this isn't goodbye."
The chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May, and even shuttered its flagship Times Square store at that time. A recent rent deal has allowed the chain to keep open more stores than originally expected. I found that these exact same signs are on another store in Syracuse, New York. At the same time, unlucky locations like Pearland, Texas are still on track to close.
Meanwhile, construction of the Menchie's frozen yogurt kiosk at the mall looks just about finished. Let's hope they can get open in time for the limited-edition holiday cup, spoon, and Egg Nog yogurt flavor. The kiosk is located right outside of Build-A-Bear on Level 1.
