Inside the demolition of Parker's and Tara Thai at Bethesda Row (Photos)

Parker's and Tara Thai are being demolished on Bethesda Avenue. The wall between them is being knocked out, so the restaurants can be combined into one larger retail space for Williams-Sonoma. Tara Thai will reopen this fall at Westfield Montgomery Mall.

Parker's, Tara Thai clear out at Bethesda Row (Photos)

Two restaurants that just closed, Parker's and Tara Thai, have begun clearing out their Bethesda Avenue spaces. The Parker's sign was still lit as of last night, but the Tara Thai sign has been removed from the building's facade.

Both restaurants are expected to reopen elsewhere in Bethesda. Tara Thai has already secured a spot at Westfield Montgomery Mall. Parker's is playing it closer to the vest, and has not responded to an inquiry about its potential new location as of press time.

DEMOLITION PERMIT REQUESTED FOR PARKER'S AT BETHESDA ROW

Interior demolition and alteration permits have been requested for Parker's restaurant at 4824 Bethesda Avenue. As reported by Bethesda Magazine, Parker's and Tara Thai will close at the end of March. The permit request refers to "tenant improvement work to two existing spaces," so it could also apply to the Tara Thai space, as well. However, it does not list Tara Thai's address, 4828 Bethesda Avenue.

There is always the potential that one or both could be converted to retail spaces, as happened with Dunkin' Donuts, for example.
